Publisher's summary

For anyone who has never tried to read a book on how to use their new DSLR camera, they may be in for a rough time. Many books are written by photographers who assume everyone has the same knowledge and background. The information is scattered throughout the books. Jargon and acronyms are everywhere, and you will be hard-pressed to find a definition or what to do with them.

That is what makes this book different. It is written for a beginner, as the title suggests. It assumes the listener has some knowledge, maybe even just basic knowledge. But, it is written in a format that follows a sequence of steps necessary to take a great photo.

But, photography does not stop with a photo. This book gives many ideas about how to share and display your photos. It also discusses how to have fun with the art. And, let's face it, photography is an art. And art, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. Photography for Beginners discusses how elements in any scene can be altered for aesthetic purposes. This is a different slant than is shown in many photography books, because art has few boundaries: the possibilities are endless.

Find another book..

Waste of my time. Seriously, this is for someone who has no idea what photography is. Zero technical info. I learned that if a picture is out of focus, it's probably not worth keeping.

basic

Very basic, limited info, very short. NOT worth a credit. you can learn this much by picking up a point and shoot.

Awesome coverage of information

All you need to know to get started. So many topics are covered. Not all topics are incredibly in depth, but there's enough to draw out the right questions about any particular section. And this author has many books that I hope are more specific. It goes fast so if you're distracted you'll miss a lot. I will likely buy this book in physical form. I've listened to it twice already.

Great book for review or beginners. Recommended.

A little more than basics, but not more then a beginner can handle. I think, with camera in hand, this is a good starting place. and as I said good review of your basics.

Material was good. Narrator had great tone. Did not find myself zoning out. Will check out other books by author.

"General"

This audio book features "general " knowledge of photography. The information helped clarify some meanings and definitions however it was not the book I was looking for.

Short,Sweet, and to the point!

I will say if you purchase this audiobook you might be able to find some helpful information on using your first DSLR camera like me and need to brush up on basic photography in a quick painless refresher course it does this well. But I feel moderate camera enthusiast who know the basics of photography should skip if you're well versed.

Not what I expected

I was expecting more practical tips on becoming a better photographer, kind of like dos, don'ts, and common mistakes. Instead, it seemed to me to be an overview of camera functions. I could read the manual for that.
