Publisher's summary

How do you maintain mindful relationships with your children in this frenzied, disconnected world? Most of us believe we have parenthood planned perfectly; when we'll become parents, how we'll parent, even anticipating how our children will respond to our parenting. Yet, reality proves to us on a daily basis that nothing in parenting goes as planned. With all of life's ups and downs, outside influences, and daily stressors, how do we navigate parenting?

With Parenting at Your Best, you'll learn how to:

  • Be a role model for what you desire in your child's life
  • Be involved in your child's life, but not excessively involved
  • Create lasting memories with your child by being present

Parenting at Your Best comes from the reflections of parents who lost their only child, parents who truly know the value of each moment. Their desire is to share the lessons they've learned so you may apply them to living in the moment with your own children.

An eye opener on parenting

I listened to this book in one shot, and plan to go over it many more times to take in all of the great advice and steps to being more actively involved as a parent. From first day as a parent to the days you send your child to college this book has it all in a compact format.

The author does an excellent job in narrating her own book brought by the tragedy she and her husband went through in hopes of helping parents at all stages. From teaching life skills like finances to building confidence, as well as dealing with grief are all covered in straightforward and simple ways making them easy to remember.

I would highly recommend this book for all parents as it is filled with great ideas on how to make the most of your time being the main influence your child experiences and to be involved as much as you can in their life even with a day job.

An encouraging story of hope and reflection

I chose this book, because I wanted tips to help me be more present with my children. I ended up getting those tips. But the stories this mother tells about her son were what really made me change the way I think about parenting. I highly recommend Parenting at Your Best to any parent who has found themselves in a rut or taking their role for granted.

Sad but TRUE

My initial reaction was sadness upon hearing the impetus for the book. The tone was both reflection of author's parenting strengths coupled with "do this so you don't have any regrets". Although I felt stings of this sadness throughout book, I could really appreciate to the practical strategies and could/would be easily implemented. Simple and easy to understand language and on point with common parenting concerns.

Great Book

Any additional comments?

This is a great book. It's filled with ideas on how to make your child's experiences the best they can be and how you can be the main influence in their lives, along with how to make time every day to be an involved parent. The narrator did a great job.
