Publisher's summary

Scientifically grounded practices for healing and transformation.

Modern neuroscience shows that what we do and think can change the physical structure of the brain - yet often this occurs unconsciously, when we habitually react to stress in unhealthy ways. Lisa Wimberger created Neurosculpting® as a complete approach for consciously reshaping our brains for greater happiness, health, creativity, and compassion. With Neurosculpting, she offers you in-depth training in this powerful process for using meditation, mindfulness, diet, and unique daily practices to help you create positive, lasting changes in your brain - and your life.

Rewiring your brain for resilience and happiness.

The first step in Neurosculpting is to change the way you deal with stress. You'll learn why the brain instinctively responds to everyday stress as a physical threat - and how you can "rewrite the script" that your nervous system follows when stressful situations arise. From there, Lisa offers guided meditations and practical strategies to help you improve your physical and emotional health, discover calm and joy, clear self-limiting beliefs, increase your creative flexibility, and connect to others. Through her groundbreaking work with first-responders, Lisa Wimberger has discovered which practices have the greatest success for creating positive change at the neurological level. Rich with scientific research and proven techniques, Neurosculpting is a complete course for becoming an active agent in your own healing and transformation.

Outstanding

Would you listen to Neurosculpting again? Why?

This author brings it all together - the neuroscience that is transforming the practice of psychiatry and psychology; the fundamental spiritual nature of our being; the connection between our physical wellness, psychological wellness and spiritual wellness; and how to dislodge the firmly entrenched but damaging habits we have all developed in the process of growing up and trying to find our way in a disconnected, anxious and angry world.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Neurosculpting?

This is the first spiritual leader I have ever heard speak frankly to the fact that we have unnecessarily resigned ourselves to a bleak old age, and a dismal future in a culture that glorifies youth. The tools that we need to completely change this resignation into hope for a productive and health future are all here - spiritual (meditation), physical (diet and exercise) and psychological (habits of negative thinking). All validated by years of research and science, supported by what we are discovering about how the mind and body work together.

What about Lisa Wimberger’s performance did you like?

The author's tone is completely honest and unpretentious. She seeks out and articulates the listeners inner voices of doubt and concern, responding reasonably and convincingly without asking for any suspension of disbelief, or suggesting that blind faith is a requirement.

The mark of a true spiritual leader is that they do not ask you to rely on their authority and knowledge - they ask and even demand that the spiritual seeker look within and identify for themselves, based on their own experience, what they know to be true. They do not require students to accept doctrine and dogma without question. In fact, they do not present any doctrine or dogma at all. And they do not assign responsibility for our poor choices to some external source of evil. The author meets all of these criteria and more.

What insight do you think you’ll apply from Neurosculpting?

I went through a period in my life where I had a well-paying job, was very fit, and decided to add a formal spiritual practice to my daily routine, and began to learn about and practice Tibetan Buddhism. Spirituality as a fashion accessory. Anxiety and depression became such significant drivers in my life, I ended up ranging further afield for solutions.

I read almost compulsively about neuroplasticity, and advances in understanding the interaction between genes and the environment, and effects on behaviors. About two years ago I learned about trauma-informed care, and in my opinion it should completely revolutionize psychotherapy. To me, the most important point from this book is the balance and communication that needs to be established and maintained between different aspects of the brain. We think of our brains as a single unit, when really they are much more like a small house with a bunch of additions that all have a different purpose. They don't communicate with each other, and some parts run on completely different neuro systems.

Any additional comments?

This is a comprehensive toolkit, very well researched and organized, the delivery of the material is excellent, and the approach taken to emotional and mental healing is valid and reliable. I wish I could get everyone I know to listen to this.

Love Neurosculpting!

I came across this book at exactly the right time, in my own journey I was also led to study the brain and the limbic system! Now I was wanting to learn more about neuroplasticity and meditation...Lisa explains all of this perfectly and beautifully!

She takes you on many guided meditations into re-sculpting your brain, her technique and voice play the perfect role in guiding you on this journey! I learned a lot and will continue reading all of her materials!

Author fails to mention the therapies , EMDR and Somatic Experiencing

The entire neurosculpting concept is based on psychological therapies, EMDR by Dr Francine Shapiro, and Somatic Experiencing by Dr Peter Levine, another pioneer in the field of healing
Apparently, she has tweaked it a little, called it neurosculpting and further expanded the applications of the therapies into separate books on anxiety etc. Although well put together, it reflects poorly on Ms Lisa Wimberger as it reeks of plagiarism and questions her own authenticity as a self acclaimed healer

Too many personal stories

She shared personal stories and her voice was irritating. Wish there was a hard copy!

Excellent.

Lisa is amazing because she not only guides you through the meditations but also explains what's happening neurologically as she does.

Too slow.

I couldn’t finish this. It’s too slow for me. Needs more power per time listened.

Not interested

Too many dramatic side personal stories. Not fond of her voice. Didn’t want to hear a bio.

don't waste your time

Complete garbage, tons of empty space while you "meditate" with the author. I regret the purchase.

Get to the point

Waaaay too much time spent prefacing..while trying to induce a sense of relaxation and focus in her listener, she simultaneously induces frustration over having that focus interrupted with unnecessary wordiness that never just gets to the point, that could be moving you forward.
I’m not easily irritated, but this was just annoying to listen to.
