Learning to love yourself

What made the experience of listening to How to Stop Being Insecure the most enjoyable?

Being able to really draw from the book on how to change myself. I know these things aren't sudden, but you really don't think about the causal advice that change your insecurities.

What other book might you compare How to Stop Being Insecure to and why?

The one about breaks up, and how to stop being jealous. All good books for going through a roller coaster of dating and breaking up.

What does Jordy Christo bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Just being able to hear another human read to me the information. I mean, I can read it and see it, but when someone says it it just clicks.

What did you learn from How to Stop Being Insecure that you would use in your daily life?

People really aren't thinking about you like you think they are. Most people don't "care" about what you do in your daily life, so stop worrying about what others think.

Impractical Advice

This came up as a recommendation on several websites about self-help books and it was fairly cheap so I mistakenly said, “why not”. In hindsight, I think the websites I saw this on were just listing self help books and a summary without actually considering the quality of content.

If you are willing to live your life in a bubble, with no growth, no real or exciting experiences, and constantly making decisions based on your insecurities to avoid triggering them, then this book is for you! There is absolutely zero advice on how to actually cope with or confront your insecurities. All of the advice given basically encourages the reader to structure their life around their insecurities so they do not have to deal with them. It’s learning how to live with them instead of learning how to either confront them or learning how to accept them. With the approach this book suggests you are still limiting the potential of your life; in other words, the outcome is the same as it would’ve been you just get to it a different way.

Save your money, save your time, and save your hope in the effectiveness of self help books by gambling on any one other than this one.

Cheaper than Therapy

What did you love best about How to Stop Being Insecure?

The narrator obviously suffers from insecurity issues. There are some honest admissions that make you feel like you're not alone.

Have you listened to any of Jordy Christo’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Just as good, clearly narrated and not rushed

What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?

My favourite tip was not to wear a new outfit in a stressful situation. I've always thought a new outfit would give me more confidence, but the author is right, wearing something comfortable and familiar puts you at ease. It's these little tips that are easy to implement that are invaluable.

Any additional comments?

A useful book that will help anyone with insecurity. Teaching you how to have more confidence in yourself and not to put too much emphasis on what other people are thinking about you. A quick and easy alternative to expensive therapy!

I was gifted a copy of this book - all opinions are my own.

Not really helpful

Basically it says if ur introverted, stay that way. Staying away from situations that make you uncomfortable, will make it so ur not uncomfortable.

Not very informative.

The book pointed out wonderful facts, but it seem to be very vague, wasn't intuned to how to actually heal instead.
saddened as this was my first audio book :(

A list of things to do, not how to do them.

It was basically a list of things to do other books to read and avoidance tactics. What I was hoping to to hear is ways to change my perspective so that I don't feel insecure.
