"A simple idea, beautifully executed, which pithily derides the blind eye that allows sexism to become endemic. Having said that... Liam is an idiot who should know his place" (Richard Herring)

Hey boys, read up!

I always review what my little man asks to read before I grant him permission. Well, this how-to for the testosterone set wins my enthusiastic thumbs up. This is a quick, simple guide for the little fellows who need help remembering to put their needs last so they can keep their women and kids happy. And testicle spray? What a brilliant suggestion! I’m going to get some for my lucky little man.

Snacking on the Memory of Cucumbers

Wow. This book brings forward the discourse society, through pop culture, uses against women.
I feel meaning draining from my life, the condescending looks of those encouraged to live, the constraints in place making one less than human. Montaigne is the next read. I need to rebuild some sense of purpose.

Delicious Bites of Clarity

A witty and telling satire which uses an alternative reality where women are the "dominant" sex to highlight the real absurdity of the advice, maxims, expectations and unspoken rules vomited on women in our own reality on a daily basis.

As a reasonably astute woman I think I am aware of a lot the sexist nonsense in the world, be it overtly hostile, condescending or just unthinking, and indeed it's not that this stuff was exactly new to me. But listening to this I had sudden moments of clarity as I laughed out loud at the sheer stupidity of the advice and realised just how much crap I've either internalized or don't notice. Including the sometimes gibberish advice we give each other as women about how to get on in life, which while ostensibly being supportive, actually just accepts and reinforces a frankly ludicrous set of underlying ideas.

To appreciate this at its best I would suggest consuming it in say 5 minute chunks.

I cannot recommend it enough, especially for those other reviewers who managed to completely miss the point and bizarrely seem to think this is just a self-help book for men (in our reality).

Thank you, dearest author, for such a brilliant present!

Every man should listen to this!

Every man should really listen to this. It is funny and insightful.
Hopefully some of it will sink in and the irony will not be lost.
