Publisher's summary

"The North Star - Stella Polaris - is a fixed point that can always be used to figure out which way you're headed. Explorers and mariners can depend on Polaris when there are no other landmarks in sight. The same relationship exists between you and your right life, the ultimate realization of your potential for happiness. I believe that a knowledge of that perfect life sits inside you just as the North Star sits in its unaltering spot. You may think you're utterly lost, but brush away the leaves, wait for the clouds to clear, and you'll see your destiny shining as brightly as ever - the fixed point in the constantly changing constellations of your life." (Martha Beck)

As the creator of Life Designs, Inc., Martha Beck has helped hundreds of clients find their own North Stars and figure out how to fulfill their potential and create joyful lives through her lectures, seminars, and one-on-one counseling. In this book she shares her step-by-step program that will guide you to fulfill your own potential.

Rich source of practical content

This book gives a practical step by step approach and is filled with thought-provoking exercises. The only disappointment is the narrator. Her voice is overly animated and distracting. I usually listen to books like this again and again but I'm going to buy the print edition because I just can't handle the audio. I would have preferred the author's own voice.

Great Content, Ill-Fitting Narration

If you could sum up Finding Your Own North Star in three words, what would they be?

Engaging, Fun, Thought-Provoking

Who was your favorite character and why?

N/A

Would you be willing to try another one of Karen White’s performances?

No

What insight do you think you’ll apply from Finding Your Own North Star?

Many!

Any additional comments?

Martha Beck writes (and narrates when she opts to also take on that task) with a tone of warmth and kindhearted humor. Unfortunately, Karen White's narration here misses that mark completely and seems ill-suited to the content, with the entire book sounding as if it's being read with a sneer.

Uncertain

Struggled to finish as the voice was a challenge to listen to while driving to work

Judgemental person

It's hard to listen to her outright judgements of other people, including referring to a kid with downs as "retarded". There might be some okay information in here but I have a difficult time sifting through the vicious judgements spattered throughout to get to it. I guess some people are like that but I find the unkind language unnecessary not honest, and made me wince more than once during the listen. I'm gonna ask for a refund. I don't recommend this one.

A True, Life-Changing Book Well-Read

I've been recommending this book (and getting started with Audible) to everyone-friends, clients, Facebook community, passersby.
The analytical insights on our inner life are fresh and coherent. I found myself saying, "Of course! I see it so clearly now!" The exercises are practical and have helped me shift obstacles in my thinking.
The choice of reader was wonderful-I enjoyed simply listening for the pleasant and kind voice.

The reader is AWFUL - book is great

The message and book are great - Karen White is disingenuous and impossible to stomach - she sounds so forced and grating. Terrible performance that made me have to read instead of listen.

one of the best books I have read! wow

The narrator was the closest anyone could get to Martha Beck. Well done!
The book is beyond amazing. It is full of techniques to help you break free any blocks toward finding your own north star. I will definitely get the paperback version as well. this is a keeper.
