Publisher's Summary

E-zine publishing is an online magazine. Much like in real life, it is simply a magazine that is delivered in a digital form. Most of the E-zines today are targeted towards Internet distribution and is meant to promote a website. Normally, an E-zine caters to a particular niche or topic. It could be anything from "How to make money online" to "How to train your pet". E-zines are normally distributed to their subscribers through e-mail.
Normally, people send E-zines to be published on a consistent, pre-planned basis. For example, an email will be sent out every day, every three days, weekly, biweekly, or monthly. These E-zines are distributed using an autoresponder. An autoresponder is programmed for every subscriber to receive the emails in a chronological format in a sequential order. This is the biggest difference between an E-zine and its offline counterpart.
An E-zine can send previous issues anytime regardless of when the subscriber has opted in to the E-zine.

I liked it!

I'm not sure why so many of the other reviewers were so critical of this book. The reason it didn't mention technology specifics on the mechanics of creating an ezine in terms of what tools to use is because that's what GOOGLE is for! Look stuff up for yourself. If this book had mentioned specific auto-responders, etc., I would have scoffed. You know why? The book would have dated itself in about 6 months when those companies went out of business or got bought up by Yahoo or Google or Amazon.

The author did us a favor my not naming names. Anyone truly interested in starting an ezine had better have the talent to be able to Google some answers, or you shouldn't be looking to start an online business int eh first place. I mean, come on guys.

The narrator was peppy and upbeat. I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This book inspired me to possibly start a blog if not an ezine. If anything, the author may have overestimated the amount of money to be made if someone was to do this full-time, but that's only because he didn't give us his own success story. I would have liked to have heard his story and how long it took for him to make money and how much, etc. That's the only specific I would have wanted to hear to get a rough idea.

And I wouldn't even have minded if he offered his services as a consultant! A nice listen if this is of keen interest to you, and well-written.

Sales pitch

This books tries to explain the basic concepts behind ezine publishing from beginning to end.

I was curious about this and wanted to see if I could learn something useful, but instead of an informative text this felt like a one hour and a half promo. Several resources were mentioned, and this just increased the feeling that I was listening to an advertisement.

I understand that if someone is interested in starting an ezine, one of the main goals is making money, but the author exposes this in a quite disgusting way, using expressions like "milk every cent from your subscribers", or proposing to collect from many sources instead of doing our own research (almost plagiarizing). He also encourages hiring ghost writers.

The narration was perfect for this kind of book. More than a narration if seemed a sales pitch. It was not my favorite narration, but I have to say that Williams captured the essence of the book and transmitted it well.

I am not sure that this is the right format for this kind of book. I think I would prefer to have this written down to go over it again and again. There are dozens of free websites with this kind of information, so I would rather go there instead of using an audiobook, which has little useful information.

I received a copy of this book in audio format from the narrator in exchange for an honest review.
