Publisher's Summary

When you said, “I do,” you entered marriage with high hopes. You dreamed that your marriage would be supremely happy. You never intended it to be miserable. Millions of couples are struggling in desperate marriages. But the story doesn’t have to end there. Dr. Gary Chapman writes, “I believe that in every troubled marriage, one or both partners can take positive steps that have the potential for changing the emotional climate in their marriage.” As you listen to Desperate Marriages, the revised and updated edition of the award-winning book Loving Solutions, you will learn how to recognize and reject the myths that hold you captive, better understand your spouse’s behavior, take responsibility for your own thoughts, feelings, and actions, and make choices that can have a lasting, positive impact on you and your spouse.
Also, learn what to do if your spouse is irresponsible, a workaholic, controlling, uncommunicative, verbally abusive, physically abusive, sexually abusive, unfaithful, addicted to alcohol or drugs, or depressed.

Excellent audiobook for distressed relationships

Would you consider the audio edition of Desperate Marriages to be better than the print version?

The content is relevant to contemporary relationships even if the stories included are dated. It covers a broad range of important topics and has helped my husband and I work through a few of our relational challenges. I'd definitely recommend it to others looking for a theraputic aid.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I did have an extreme reaction to the material. I uncovered personal issues that I'd long since barried that were inhibiting my life and marriage. I had a stong reaction to one of the stories and after further investigation found out something that had happened to me as a child. Now I'm able to work on it and release it.

Any additional comments?

It's a good starting point for any couple.

very good advise for any marriage in trouble or no

This book deals with specific issues that married couples go through and gives wonderful, practical advice. It covers many situations that couples find themselves in. The book helps you find your way through these difficult passages in your marriage and also gives you advice on how to keep from getting back into them. This book appears to be useful only to marriages in crisis but I would say that it is a must read for anyone in or contemplating a marriage. Good advise and practical steps to take to renew your relationship.
