Publisher's summary

Buddhist meditation for beginners in seven easy steps.

The lessons and exercises contained in this audiobook will help you understand Buddha's essential teachings (the Dharma, Way, or Path), including the basics of Buddhist meditation practice. Apart from quoting ancient Buddhist scriptures, it contains priceless advice from Dalai Lama, Eckhart Tolle, Krishnamurti, and Alan Watts, among other renowned spiritual teachers. Although the ultimate goal of Buddhist meditation practice is attaining a state of spiritual awakening or enlightenment, it must be said that hardly anyone achieves this - except perhaps dedicated monks and advanced practitioners. In spite of this, there are many benefits attributed to regular meditation practice, as a recent Mayo Clinic report states:

"Meditation can wipe away the day's stress, bringing with it inner peace.... If stress has you anxious, tense and worried, consider trying meditation. Spending even a few minutes in meditation can restore your calm and inner peace.... Meditation can give you a sense of calm, peace and balance that benefits both your emotional well-being and your overall health. And these benefits don't end when your meditation session ends. Meditation can help carry you more calmly through your day and may improve certain medical conditions...."

This is truly an audiobook recommended for everyone interested in finding the truth, escaping from Illusion, and experiencing inner peace in the now!

help you

It is clearly explained for anyone who is used to reading about Buddhism. The book may be difficult for beginners due to lack of familiarity with the terminology that is used.

amazing

The book is very thorough in procedures, but may be a little advanced for beginners.

Some of the terminology can be overwhelming at first. I have founing listen the book more than once really does help some of the terms to sink in better.

Overall I think the book is worth it for the listtener if they are patient and spend the time practicing and learning the techniques

great techniques

This book does a great job of succinctly yet comprehensively showcasing the vast knowledge base of meditative practices of Early Buddhism. It modernizes the instructions, benefits, and practices in a form that anyone from a beginner to seasoned meditator can learn from. I, even, bought a copy for a friend, and he too has benefited from undergoing the progressive meditations that build upon each other. As a therapist, I have used it to teach my clients mindfulness and meditative techniques

Good but not what I was looking for

I learned a few concepts but I am still looking for a book that guides me on an initial meditation. This book did not do that for me. It is still a good book It is also a relatively short book.
