What would have made Be a Free Range Human better?

Resources needed to do exercises should be available in PDF on line so you can do exercises in book. So hard to go back & find exercises on audio version.

Would you be willing to try another one of Caroline Lennon’s performances?

No I didn't think her voice suited the book, more suited to a chick lit book like Marian Keyes.

Any additional comments?

I contacted free range website about getting the resources & their response was that they had no involvement in the audio version & couldn't provide PDF resources. I didn't even finish the audio book as felt it was pointless if I didn't complete the exercises.

Loved it

I loved the ebook, but the audiobook was fantastic, too. Caroline Lennon did a great job bringing Marianne's feisty prose to life. I bought this because I am a true believer in the free range philosophy, and this is something I'll want to go back and listen to in the future. There's a lot of content here, and it will definitely take a few listens to absorb it all. A fantastic job.

Fresh but limited

On the whole there is not much new in this book but what you do get is a refreshing approach which looks at business start up in a much less pompous way than many other guides. It challenges some of the more traditional mantras that can be off-putting and overwhelming. There is genuine encouragement and enthusiasm in the author but the book is aimed at a specific type of business/self-employment (blogging/writing online) so is limited if your idea does not fit within the scope of the so-called free-ranger. There are some useful exercises throughout - you don't just read, you have to do stuff! There is a life-coaching element to this book, which as usual, tends to shun realism and the likelihood of failure. For me, a dose of reality is essential in order to move forward and I think certain factors that may seem negative should be acknowledged and dealt with rather than pushed aside - apparently, this may make me a 'beige' person...

So good, I listened twice and will again!

If you could sum up Be a Free Range Human in three words, what would they be?

Encouraging, motivating, enabling

What other book might you compare Be a Free Range Human to, and why?

The Escape Manifesto: Quit Your Corporate Job - Do Something Different! It gives you the tools to DO something rather than just waffling on about an alternative life that someone else is enjoying, nor does it tempt you with an idea all the way through the book for you to find that it's just a book about a get rich quick scheme. It made me feel life I was empowered to actually follow in other peoples' footstep, not just watch them walk away from me with my dream!

Which scene did you most enjoy?

It's a non-fiction book, so no 'scenes' as such, but several of the real-life examples are great

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

All of it, as it has made me realise that I CAN start now, without a huge amount of money behind me.

Any additional comments?

Listen to it more than once - you will get something else from this fantastic book every time that you listen to it!

Good luck with breaking free :)
