A little contradictory.
A little contradictory.
Not start out with a very negative warning of boogy men in the closet.
The narration was fine.
How to discourage someone from experiencing out of body experiences or astral travel.
How can anyone experience something they are told to beware and fear if a positive attitude is a prerequisite to experiencing that something? As someone that would very much love to have such an experience as described in this book, I find the very first chapter a real reason to give up trying. All other material I have read concerning the subject of astral travel or out of body experiences stress a positive attitude no matter what you may encounter. As being on the astral plane, every thought and feeling you have can become a reality. Fear can conjure up the most negative of images. That said, I then pick up this book, or in my case I listened to the digital version. I have never been able to achieve more than one or two lucid dreams, I almost achieved the out of body once and this has been a three year effort. What I have learned is I am a 'whuss' and need to control my emotions better. That it is truly your own emotional energy that conjure up and draw negative to you. Seeing or feeling something you do not understand is not the time to panic and imagine the worse.
I understand its certainly not the authors fault that I am a 'whuss' but I do not believe anything can randomly sever the cord since all of us go to sleep each night and separate from our physical to recharge and would be exposed unknowingly. I do not believe that there are entities or energies there independent of our control. We avoid the wrong side of town and dark streets in the physical to avoid confrontation with the negative. Its the same premise. If you are a negative person you will draw that energy to you both in the physical and astral. But not having negative or fearful thoughts are hard when you read it put in the way this author has. Who would even want to attempt it after given such dire warnings.
My advice to someone wanting to try this is go for it but, as the author here suggested, keep a positive attitude at all times. But realize that if you do feel like there is negative about you, its your own thoughts and feelings that draw it to you. There are not enough people that die in their sleep compared to those that statistically astral travel to suggest they were victims of a severed cord.
