Here Is a Chapter Guide for Hard Copy/Audible

This book is life changing. I love being able to listen to it as well as to read it; using both is most helpful to me in processing the material. The content is very thorough and relevant, and has proven invaluable to my recovery.

As many have noted, the female reading voice is really “off” - for an audio book in general, and definitely for this very personal material. I am acclimated now, but it’s a thing for sure.

Also as many have noted, the audible chapter listing does not correlate at all with the hard copy book chapters. Here is a guide:

Hard Copy Chapter 1 - Audible chapter 25
Hard Copy Chapter 2 - Audible chapter 39
Hard Copy Chapter 3 - Audible chapter 59
Hard Copy Chapter 4 - Audible chapter 72
Hard Copy Chapter 5 - Audible chapter 77
Hard Copy Chapter 6 - Audible chapter 83
Hard Copy Chapter 7 - Audible chapter 113
Hard Copy Chapter 8 - Audible chapter 273
Hard Copy Chapter 9 - Audible chapter 321
Hard Copy Chapter 10 - Audible chapter 374

Excellent content, horrible voice

What did you like best about Adult Children of Alcoholics/Dysfunctional Families? What did you like least?

The content is so right on, but the woman's voice that reads it is so annoying its very difficult for me to even listen to. Some people have good auditory ranges but this woman sounds irritating to listen to. I have listened to dozens and dozens of books thru audible, most have very good speakers, this one is such a shame as the content is so good it was not bearable to listen to. I had to actually read the book myself.

Terrible choice of voice for this fabulous book!

The book is really good and one of the kind in regards to knowledge about Adult Children and how to heal from dysfunctional cooping skills, it gives hope to all grown up children in this world.

However the voice reading the content in this book is horrible, computerized, reading it with out any what so ever emotional connection with the content. I can't listen to it even though I really want to. And I'll go back to reading the actual book. Because how it's read out here is unbearable to my heart, and soul.

The chapters used has nothing to do with the actual book.
so when I look for chapter 8 from the physical book, which is about becoming our own loving parent, it's impossible to fint it.....

Audio chapters don't match the printed chapters

The audio chapters don't match the printed chapters which makes it difficult to go back and select specific parts of the book which is inconvenient for a reference book.

1 In 5 Americans Of US Are ACOA's Here's Help

Knowing is power. This book has helped me understand and help myself and best of all find help at ACOA Meetings. Life is going to get better because I'm working at it and I'm not alone and I'm in good company. Before I found this book, I was numb and feelings were confusing. I'm not an alcholic but I grew up with them all around me.

This book is a one stop shop it's got everything but it's better with friends.

Audio Book supports 12 step study.

Aloha! Listening to audio book while reading the book supports my learning style. A meeting I attend uses it to listen to during meeting. Helps allow the reading time of meeting because not everyone has books yet.

Great book, horrible narration

This book is life changing and I'm grateful it's on Audible so I can listen while I walk or work but the female narrator is offensively robotic to the point of wanting to turn it off. I hope they will re-record this book full of important and transformative information with professional and pleasant voices so that people can better hear the wonderful messages contained within.

Brutal to listen to

This is tedious to listen to. This book is incredible and a powerful recovery tool. It’s read in such a thoughtless inane manner. It’s a real shame.
