Publisher's summary

Hate the negativity that often surrounds you? Feel stressed or anxious? Overwhelmed by our hectic, fast-paced modern society? These issues are often the direct result of as vicious cycle known as "unconscious living". You can be unconscious about your lifestyle choices, habits, and thoughts. You can be unconscious about your true values, life priorities, and deeper longings. And you're unconscious from living in the present moment because you're preoccupied by past regrets and worries for the future. The solution is to incorporate mindfulness through your entire day - so you can enjoy inner peace and happiness. And the simplest way to do this is to build a series of mindfulness habits.

Wall Street Journal best-selling authors SJ Scott and Barrie Davenport show how to anchor yourself in the present moment, even if it's for just a few minutes at a time. This book is for anyone who recognize the need to improve their focus, productivity, happiness, and peace of mind. Not only can you choose from a selection of 71 mindfulness habits, you will also discover the practical tools to turn these actions into automatic behavior. In 10-Minute Mindfulness you can "choose your own adventure" and pick the mindfulness habits that will have the biggest positive impact on your life.

Very dull content and performance.

I was expecting a little more insight and meaning from this book, it turned out to be very dull, uninspiring and the whole time felt like a robot was reading a grocery list in a very stiff way.

You are kidding, right?

You are kidding, right? There is a book released in 2010 called “The Next Ten Minutes: 51 Absurdly Simple Ways to Seize the Moment” by Andrew Peterson. A great book on the subject of mindfulness.

However, this book has a release date of 2017…with a title that almost mimics, word for word, “10-Minute Mindfulness: 71 Habits for living in the Present Moment” by co-authors, S.J. Scott, Barrie Davenport. What gives? Was this done so anyone googling Andrew Peterson’s book title might end up with this book popping up instead?

These co-authors show no passion for the subject of mindfulness, as evident in this book’s clear lack of research on the author’s part. It reads like someone desperate to publish a book; any book! Verses a, well researched, book by Dr. Andrew Peterson released in 2010 (ref, ISBN 1582702748), with practical exercises for the readers to prove the mindful experience for themselves. Please feel free to verify what I am implying here.

I purchased this book too hastily, believing it was a new book by Andrew Peterson. I never, for one second, paused to consider the author’s name being different. Nor thought any author(s) would be so brazen, as well as, blatantly “lazy” creative wise, to name his/her book with such a similar title from someone else’s book, about a similar subject.

Repetitive and ubiquitous

Just do a google search for mindfulness... it's all out there for free and it's probably more informative that this snack food size advice. I would not recommend this book ever to anyone. i

Elementary.

Full of plugs for authors' other books. References to videos, lists, blogs, etc. As an audio book, when told to go "here", how does one do that? requested refund.

Dull and Commonplace

What would have made 10-Minute Mindfulness better?

Less promo for sites and books outside of the content.

What could S.J. Scott and Barrie Davenport have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

The content as presented is what everybody already knows -- no special insights on meditation in a busy life.

Have you listened to any of J. Robin Ward’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No and I wouldn't. It felt like a nurse speaking to a disoriented patient.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

I was certainly narrated with great clarity, and others may not find it so condescending.

Any additional comments?

Your time is better spent listening to music lying down on the floor.
