Empowering

I found this book very helpful. Terry Mattlen herself has ADHD and has real world tips on how to manage it in every day life. I thought the narrator was excellent as well.

She knows me!

I wish everyone in my family could hear/read this book. It explains things that I didn't know were systems of ADHD that I was chastising myself for.

It is almost like reading a bibliography of myself

It is almost like reading a bibliography of myself. I like that this book relates to women with ADHD. All subtypes are discussed. I wish there was more on the Primarily Inattentive subtype since I thought females generally have that type.
The book offers strategies for organizing your life but sometimes I think that the author forgets that we are ADHD because some of the suggestions require too much organizational thought. I think that if you have a spouse or a non-ADHD person to help you use these suggestions, it would makes sense. I can just see myself getting stuck trying to sort my "to do today" paperwork vs what can "wait until later" pile. I can sort tasks better than paperwork. I think that a lot of us find paperwork much harder to sort out. Some of is that have an OCD personality along with ADHD/executive function issues may find it even more difficult.
I find the narrator easy to listen to even at a faster playback rate. There were a couple areas that skipped like a broken record briefly but it may have been on my device rather than an Audible glitch recording.

Would be better for kindle.

I liked the content although it seemed a bit all over the place. I had desire to skip the entire relationship section it felt out of place. I think it would have read better as a kindl book because of the amount of times a website was listed(could be a drinking game). They probably didn't need to speak out H T T P colon back slash back slash every single time.

This book brings comfort!

While I don't have an official diagnosis, listening to the author describe inattentive adhd made me feel like she was describing my life! The suggestions she offers seem very attainable and offer so much hope for being able to function better in the future. I would love to see more books by this author which dive into the variety of topics even deeper! This book is ideal for newly diagnosed, and those who have just realized that adhd is the reason for their lifelong struggles. It is definitely worth the price!

Revalational!!

As a 33 year old woman who was just recently diagnosed with adhd this book was right on time! I related to many of the example stories a little too well! But I loved that about the book. I am in the stages of coming to terms with and learning about my my recent diagnosis and I feel this book really helped me with that process. I Would recommend this book also to people who may not have adhd but that have a hard time with or are looking for tips on organization. Love and thanks!

narration is awful

the narrator sounds like the narrator from calliou. I really wanted to get through this book but between that and the fact that the author takes lengthy caveats(know readers have adhd). I just couldn't get through it.

I couldn't "put it down".

Everything about this book was perfect for my brain. The cadence of the narrator's voice kept my attention and the organization of the content helped me stay focused and allowed me to retain a lot of information. I'm so grateful Terry Matlen decided to put pen to paper to share all she has in this book. My undiagnosed ADHD thanks you. ❤️
