Publisher's Summary

The Logic of Microspace is three books in one. The technologies underlying small space were the subject of Rick’s widely acclaimed first book, Micro Space Craft, which sold out its first printing by word of mouth. This highly understandable, entertaining book, called the only comedic "page-turner" ever written about aerospace engineering, has been thoroughly updated and is the first book within The Logic of Microspace.
The second book within this trilogy-inside-one-"cover" brings the same understandable, humorous, fast-reading and informative style of the technical sections to a complementary book on minimum size and cost mission management and the philosophical and often surprising psychological underpinnings of minimum-cost space missions. The third part of The Logic of Microspace is a dramatic novella, possibly the first in any aerospace text, describing several alluring opportunities for benefiting humanity and the space industry via low-cost satellites and space missions.

Not well suited to an audio book

This audiobook contains many nuggets of useful and interesting information.
Unfortunately they a buried in hours of monotonous narration.
The reading is pitched just a bit to high to allow for relaxed listening. It sounds as though the material is a constant surprise or perhaps completely foreign to the narrator.

If the subject matter interests you then please go an get the printed text. This way you can easily highlight and index those pieces of information that are of value for easy retrieval.

Of the audiobooks in my library, this is the least likely to warrant a second listen.

The last book is a work of fiction, unfortunately in the audio book format it is just another few chapters in an already lengthy audiobook.
I understand the author's desire to imagine an alternative universe where things were prioritised differently, but this could easily have been excluded from this book.

Really exciting to hear as an audiobook

What made the experience of listening to The Logic of Microspace the most enjoyable?

Books like this aren't usually made into audiobooks, but they should be!

What does Cindy Lucas bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Clear pronunciation, interesting intonation and inflection. She lets you have access to the book rather than distract from the material.

Any additional comments?

If you are interested in space development and small satellites in particular, this will be a VERY informative book!
