You could pretty well rename this collection 'Modelling Of Bulk Matter' or somesuch. The trick is to define a basic model with the essence of what you want to investigate, set up some ( solvable ) equations, and then churn the math - simplifying and approximating as necessary. Eventually you will get a number(s) that can be checked against measurement. This way you link the microscopic ( theory ) with the macroscopic ( measurement ). If the prediction is sufficiently accurate, then it can be said that we have 'understanding' of things unseen. Mr Feynman yet again demonstrates his skill in explanation of one of the things he did for a living - theoretical physics. As he got his Nobel for nailing down 'quantum electrodynamics' - the interaction of charged particles, light etc.. at small scales - he is well qualified. It can difficult to be envision the detail of the calculations, but I found his interpretation of the results fascinating. His humour and accent I find delightful.

Hard to follow due to the fact that the lectures are in front of a blackboard and Mr. Feynman uses the blackboard to explain many of his key points. Would be a very good if it were video and the listener could see the blackboard. Without the visual, much of the audio is hard to follow.
