Publisher's Summary

Take advantage of an opportunity to explore the cosmos with the greatest mind since Einstein. This series of lectures introduces the listener to "the history of ideas about the Universe" as well as presenting today's most important scientific theories about time, space, and the nature of the cosmos. In these lectures, Professor Hawking - who transformed our view of the universe in his landmark book A Brief History of Time - explores the most complex theories of physics, both past and present, yet the lectures remain clear and accessible.

I am aiming this review at people already familiar with Hawking's other writings.

If you've read A Brief History of Time, I wouldn't bother with this as it is essentially excerpts of the book read by Dr. Hawking. The same topics are covered in much the same wording.
