Really helped me to improve my anxiety struggle!

Would you listen to Social Anxiety again? Why?

I'd definitely listen to this again. I've suffered with social anxiety from a young age and nothing has really managed to help - Until now. Counselling, medication, pushing myself etc have all failed but this is the one resource I feel has actually helped me to at least some what get rid of my anxiety.

Whenever I feel like it's creeping back in I think I'll end up giving this another listen to help myself feel better.

What other book might you compare Social Anxiety to and why?

The author has some other books about anxiety and I feel like this ties in well with them - Personally I feel like this one has helped the most, although the others also offer a good insight into helping your anxiety. I prefer this book as it goes specifically into anxiety in the workplace rather than in general, and as this is something I'm forced to struggle with on a daily basis I feel like it's helped me more.

What about Susan Kruth’s performance did you like?

I found that her voice worked well with the subject matter - As it's a book on anxiety, it was definitely soothing and calming to hear her voice. It relaxed me and I feel like it helped me to focus on it more, her tone and accent were very engaging.

I felt like she was incredibly invested in the reading and felt like she could empathise with me and she also made it very clear when she was reading key points by putting emphasis on these parts and making sure to enunciate more.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Definitely! It's a convenient length to listen to in one go and despite being non-fiction, I found it gripping as I wanted to do whatever I could to help improve my anxiety. As I mentioned, I felt engaged by the narrator which definitely helped me to listen to this in one go.

Any additional comments?

I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to conquer their social anxiety, especially in the workplace. Nothing else has helped me as much as this has and I'd also recommend the author's other works. All of the tips in this are easy to both understand and implement, and the author clearly knows what she's dealing with - She managed to make a hard to talk about topic much easier to talk about, and I admire this. This has been a definite life changer for me and I can see myself using it again in future should I need to.

Work was tough...not anymore.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Well, if they had the same issues as i did, then of course i would, absolutely definitely!

What does Susan Kruth bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Well, i personally think listening to someone is a lot easier int his situation. Also being an audiobook it made it a LOT easier to consume in public places, which is what i needed (for example one day i actually listened to one section in the toilets at work, before a very scary (for me) meeting)

Fantastic. Any type of social anxiety is a quite horrible thing. Brutal at times. I have had this book for almost 3 months now and only have the highest praise for it and how the advice has, quite literally, changed my life. I was actually close to quitting my job - now i have a BETTER job! The fact i got thru an interview and now thrive in daily life at work is a miracle. I still have my off day but generally i am so much better and put it down to this excellent book.

Really good book which personally helped me a lot. This may not help everyone, nor do they claim it will, but i can really say this is the first book I felt actual real progress with. I started to feel a bit better pretty soon after getting this. I feel I still have a long journey to go to be totally “cured” from social anxiety issues but having tried at least 20 other books this really is the first one of any real use!

Helped me deal with "shyness" issues at work

If you could sum up Social Anxiety in three words, what would they be?

Some call it extreme shyness. Some call it social anxiety. Whatever it is, it is horrible and can effect every part of your life. For me it did. Especially at work. Work was the worst. It made me quit two good jobs and want to quit my current job before i finally reached out and tried to get help - which is when i was recommended this book.

I am not perfect, i still get scared in certain situations but things like meetings, work parties, awkward conversations, small talk, phone chats etc etc are now MASSIVELY better. Overall it has had a huge positive effect on my life, for which i will always be grateful.
