Publisher's summary

Need to learn SQL for work, but don't know where to start? Ever tried to learn, but got bored with dry-as-dust textbooks?

Let SQL with a Smile introduce you to the Structured Query Language with a laid-back approach - and a lot of bad jokes!

Don't get bogged down with database details you don't need yet. SQL with a Smile uses a laid-back approach to teach you just the things you need to get started right now, with easy-to-understand explanations of why things work the way they do, how to write a query that will stand up to a code review, and how to translate your data questions into SQL queries.

So sit back, pour yourself your favorite drink, and learn how to:

  • Identify and understand the main parts of a SQL query
  • Join tables
  • Filter results
  • Apply aggregate functions
  • Make your own top 10 lists
  • Write subqueries
  • And even read other people's queries, no matter how badly written they may be

Well read but not enough data.

Compared to other technical books I have purchased through Audible this book was well narrated.

The reason I did not give it five stars is because I felt it could have went over more material, such as providing more examples of joins and sub queries.

Overall, if you are new to SQL and are just looking for something to help with SQL 101 this is a good book.

SQL in an audio book? Well done!

I did not expect to find any SQL books here in Audible. was surprised to see several. I downloaded 3 and this is my favorite. It's short but effective for what I needed. I look forward to going back and printing and studying the free pdf file that goes with it. ...and I always appreciate when an author reads their own story as she did here.
