Narcissism is an often misunderstood and a misused term. There are many questions about it and some strong opinions about it as well. Here are some of the common comments and questions “heard on the street” about the hot topic of narcissism:

What is narcissism anyway? Is it really a mental problem that some people have, or is it just a “bad personality type”? If it is a mental condition, how do you get it? Is it contagious? Is it “terminal’? Can it be treated with drugs? Why in the world would anybody call the love-of-self narcissistic? I heard that a certain amount of narcissism is healthy, and without having it, you are going to get trampled on in life. Is this true? Where did this term come from?

Once you have narcissism, if it is real, can anybody really do anything about it? Can a doctor help my spouse or my boss or not? If so, what kind of doctor?

I may not be able to address every one of your questions about narcissism, but by listening to this audiobook, you should get a good head start on the problem and perhaps be knowledgeable enough to know what to do next, or at least know where to seek additional information.

Although the audiobook may have some flaws, it has good points, too. It has highlighted how we should be more empathetic and less self-centered. If I were to recommend a book on narcissist,

This book helped me to better understand narcissism by breaking down concepts and explaining them and then how to use the concept to diffuse interactions with narcissists. It was very helpful.

I have read many books on narcissism, all of which I bought from Amazon.com This is the only book I feel that teaches you how to heal.

It has showed exactly how and why a narcissist turned out to be like that. It gave me the sense of purpose to reach out others and give them hope that they can still be love in spite of their condition.

Bought & listened to the audiobook the same evening. Was looking for something that would help me ascertain whether or not someone close to me actually fell within the criteria of having NPD, and if so, what my options might be for dealing with it (short of closing the door on the relationship, which is also obviously an option, but sometimes one of the most difficult to do, albeit the most seemingly simple). This was a very good choice. The book is quick and concise; the info and delivery are easy to understand. Very helpful overall. Thank you!

Instructive from start to end.

I know someone who's like this. He is close to me and I got this as I am trying to understand where he's coming from. This disorder can exists anywhere, so it's a must to hear to protect yourself.

It's pretry short but offers great details on narcissism. A narcissistic can cause so much damage that we need to be guided by books like this to be warned and informed at the same time.
