Publisher's summary

The world of high-performance athletics is changing forever. Not so long ago, you could compete at the top level with hard work and a good coach, but today, it’s impossible to separate the achievements of athletes from the scientists who support them. In Faster, Higher, Stronger, veteran journalist Mark McClusky brings listeners behind the scenes with a new generation of athletes, coaches, and scientists whose accomplishments are changing our understanding of human physical achievement and completely redefining the limits of the human body. At the exciting new frontier of sports, science, and technology, the book explores:

  • The role that genes and training play
  • How to find hidden champions and fasttrack greatness
  • The truth about the 10,000 hours rule
  • New research on breaking through fatigue
  • Revolutions in data and nutrition
  • And how we can apply the lessons about focus, dedication, and sheer ingenuity in our own lives.

Brimming with cutting-edge science and gripping anecdotes, Faster, Higher, Stronger is a fascinating, exhilarating look at how far we can push the boundaries of our bodies and minds.

Excellent Book

This book was well researched and professionally presented. I love the fact the author read his own book and you can hear that he really knows his stuff. This a a book of athletic science that was presented in a fascinating and entertaining way. But make no mistake, this is science and a fine scholarly work. In fact, this is a great book for anyone interested in the scientific pursuit of improving athletic performance.

Similar to the sports Gene

Still great interesting book. Not as well voice acted and doesn't have the same level of story telling about athletes as The Sports Gene. It does have similar content. For example I fast forwarded through chapter 6 because it seemed identical to a chapter in the sports gene. But this book does go a bit more into performance enhancers, why they work, and what they benefit.

fascinating look at human excellence in sports

I wish it had gone a little bit deeper but overall a very interesting book. his look at natural supplementation, doping, and technical manipulation makes you really think. .what are the lines between fair and unfair, natural and contrived.

I wouldn't listen to it a second time

The book is reasonably interesting but there's not a whole lot that I found would be applicable in my own life as opposed to what the title suggests.

Helping My Athlete Daughter

I bought this book hoping that it would help me understand how I could help my daughter reach her potential as an athlete. It has surpassed my expectations and given me strategies that will help my daughter to excel. This book cuts through the marketing fog that surrounds the supplement industry and gave me an understanding of which foods and supplements are truly effective.

Too diverse for a usual sports enthusiast

The book covers a variety of topics applied and with examples from all kinds of sports. If you are not a general sports performance guy, most of the content would be irrelevant to the sport of your interest.

Well done in all aspects!

This book was a pleasant surprise stimulating my mind and renewing my faith a in how great we can become. And over all how many false concepts are still being treated as proven facts.
