Are you confused by what your cholesterol levels really say about your health? Don't you wish someone could just spell it out in simple English and tell you what, if anything, you need to do to improve your heart and overall health? Life Saving Book - bought 4 hard copies to share

This book will save lives. It was just the start of a journey through other books along the line of the damage done to our bodies via grains / carbs / sugar and the healing and healthful benefits of good fats. The programming the public has received in the past decades has been upside down and backwards and as a result many people have suffered with inflammation, heart disease, diabetes, alzheimers, cancer, and shortened lives with much of their budget spent on pharmaceuticals when simple knowledge of how food works in the body would have led to health, happier days and ease of movement.

How many people suffer because they don't know what is in this book and the other books along this line of knowledge? How many families have been broken due to family members dying, or suffering long illness or loss of everything they have worked for to pay medical bills?

Audible has numerous books now along this line, and while the audio editing of this book is poor, the message alone is valuable. I gave this book in hardcover to people who have need for it. One person (the smartest of the group) has eliminated 2 prescriptions so far and is feeling less aches and pains and has improved her quality of life. Two people are not "readers" so the books given are unused. One person skims and says the message is valid, but does not have the will power to change their diet.

This book can change, improve, and save lives by providing people with the power to understand their bodies, how lab tests are used to justify the broad use of pharmaceuticals, and empowers people to change.

Some doctors are up-to-date and understand this information. Too many still don't. It is up to the proactive person to take personal responsibility for what they eat and change their health. This book is a foundational understanding. There are other books that carry on and give great dietary information - also on Audible.

Lose the mouth noises

The audio quality of this book is awful. The content is fabulous and very informative however it was a struggle just to listen to it. The mouth noises alone are enough to make someone go in sane.

A good book, but

Where does Cholesterol Clarity rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I think its information is good. It references many other books that I have listened to on audible.com. So it's not just an author providing his own claims or theories. He also has an expert who helps him with writing the book.

What did you like best about this story?

The book as a whole is very informative and very simplistic. That makes for easy comprehension. I love the clarity notes with the sound because it alerts you enough to pay attention to the supporting information to back up the claim.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

The quality of the book is the main issue. Some segments are great some segments should have been redone. The audio quality goes from sounding like it was done in the studio to sounding like it was done in someone's bathroom. There were also too many long pauses between sections. And finally, the narrator has a bad habit of smacking his lips between sentences. The smacking ceased the further into the book you get.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No real reactions other than getting annoyed (smacking, long pauses) or having those aha moments.

Any additional comments?

Overall if you can tolerate the smacking, long pauses, and changes in audio quality, the book is very informative and comprehensible. I think anyone who wants to better understand cholesterol should get the book.

Repetitive

What disappointed you about Cholesterol Clarity?

I Love Jimmy Moore's podcasts and general view, however, this book was very repetitive and did not contain much detailed info. It was mostly "bumper sticker" information that we already know. The book could have been 1/4 of the length and conveyed the same info.

Were the concepts of this book easy to follow, or were they too technical?

Yes, it was easy to follow....too easy

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Yes

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Cholesterol Clarity?

the almost 1 hour of listening to every name of doctor/expert interviewed for this book along with their bio. SKIP TO 1 HOUR AND 10 MINUTES, TO START THE BOOK.

Any additional comments?

It is probably a better book to have in hard copy to reference back to some of the information.

Great Book

I got this book after receiving my less-than-stellar cholesterol numbers. After, reading this book, I decided to get a coronary CT scan and my doctor was blown away by the fact that I have ZERO signs of heart disease. I had already informed her that I wasn’t interested in taking statins but she really wanted me to. We negotiated a 3 month term to come back and retest. Even using the guidelines from the book, my ratio of triglycerides to HDL is high and my HDL is definitely low. So now I work on them with diet and exercise. NO STATINS FOR ME! I really appreciate having a source of information that breaks everything down in a way that makes sense and gives me a way forward.

If I have to be critical...

The information is very good and I enjoyed learning from it, however constantly hearing the reader swallow and make mouth noises drastically diminishes the performance of this book.

Eye Openner!

Comprehensive information about cholesterol written in an accessible manner. Narration was good, but I did speed it up to 1.35.

Good information, terrible audio and narration

The audio is inconsistent from sentence to sentence, and the narrator sounds like he's sucking (loudly) on a lozenge throughout the narration. He also constantly swallows very loudly, and made the recording in a space with a lot of echo. Not to mention, the CONSTANT "point of clarity" quotes that all begin and end with a bell... he specifically says "Point of clarity quote" before beginning each quote, so what in the world is the point of the bell? Very annoying and distracting audio. Good information, but not fun to listen to.
