the story is fascinating

When I picked this up I had a different story in my head. As the authors explained the last few in the series, everything started tumbling back. How could I forget this fantastic story with such mesmerizing characters such as Bericio and Luca?! I loved the first two seasons on audible and was excited to get back into this one.

The beginning does start with a short recap, so if you're reading these back to back that may not help, however, I finished season two quite some time ago so the recap was perfect. It does not bog the story down but instead pulls the reader into the chaos and allows them to get ready for more action packed apocalyptic yumminess!

I have loved these characters, mainly the aforementioned, since meeting them. They are characters whose personalities are really going to stick with you as the book progresses. This is great since this has quite a few characters and it can get messy trying to figure them all out. Somehow they all have different voices, probably helped out by the fascinating and very talented cast of narrators. After listening to The Martian, I'm still a fan of R.C. Bray but all of them did a fantastic job. Luka's character is also helped to stand out by having a different narrator. Having a younger voice keeps the story line going.

The one critique, which was sort of weird, was that every once in a while, maybe once every two hours or so, there would be static on the audio. Almost like listening to an old record player. It just hiccups for a few seconds and moves on and maybe it was just a strange finish in the editing but that definitely pulled me out of listening to the story.

Other than that the story is fascinating. Seeing another side of Bericio and then having two of them, was probably my favorite of this. Ohhhh Bericio. This guy goes through hell. Luca goes through some stuff but nobody but Bericio has really gone through pain, not in the way he has anyway. It's tough to listen to since I really, really like his character. Have to credit the authors for writing a character that not only sticks out in this story that is completely ridden with characters, but making him a villain that I absolutely love.

There is a lot of back and forth with the time line. Fortunately, each chapter starts with saying who the narrator of the chapter will be and what time line they are in. This takes a bit to get used to. I had to puzzle all of the times together to be able to get the full story of what was happening with each person. Just about an hour and a half in they all come together and it is a linear time frame from there on out. For some reason this type of thing normally irritates me but I am so into this story and these characters that I did not care about the authors jumping back and forth. It gave me back ground information to build off of so I understand more about each character's motives. In this, that winds up being a very good thing.

I was curious at about a little more than an hour to go how this was going to end. I should not have been shocked when it ended on yet another cliff hanger! I will have to get season four immediately!

In short: Be ready for a ride. This was thrilling, scary, and will make you want to stay up late reading.

amazing!!

I love this series!! Its so action packed and the story is complicated and has so many different pieces. The narrator is great for this series too. My only complaint is....WHY IS AUDIBLES TAKING SO LONG TO GET ALL THE BOOKS OUT!! The series is finished why must we the people who dont have time to read the books have to wait so long in between books. Im dying to know what happens and I cant read the books.
Any how the book is greatthis was shorter than the original books but just as great.

Brilliant!

There's something brilliant about a story that maintains terrific momentum from start to finish. Like a perfectly prepared cocktail, when I finished this book I was terribly disappointed in myself drinking it too quickly; not taking the time to enjoy it's subtle brilliance in storytelling and eloquent profanity.

Ugh

This series jumped the shark at some point but I kept hanging on. It's not a "casual listen" because you have to follow two versions of characters, two versions of back stories, two worlds, and a lot of ethereal crap. I like what the author was trying to do but it just didn't grab me as being successfully executed.

Just awful...

I have listened to all three seasons and all have been horrible. I tried to stick with it simply because I had plenty of credits and and nothing else in my queue. The story had a lot of promise in season one, but now that many things are explained in this season, it has gotten to be just plain stupid. I put it on the category of science fiction that i like to call "just make up a bunch of ridiculous crap that makes no sense and call it science fiction."

The writing is not only terrible, but unbelievably creepy... Why did the authors feel the need to provide elaborate details of the sexual thoughts of children?? Or constantly describe, in detail, the erections of young boys? I couldn't help but feel like the authors used the premise of the book as a way of writing about their own sick fantasies. And the dialog of Boricio... what the heck. Not even evil psychopaths talk like that!! I just got so annoying and ridiculous. And I am not offended by anything at all, trust me, but the writing just seemed to consistently get under my skin and really annoy me at its shallowness and creepiness.

No clue how this series gets so many good reviews... I could have 10 credits saved up and there is no way whatsoever I will waste one on season four.

Liked seasons 1 & 2 but season 3, not so much,

What did you like best about Yesterday's Gone: Season Three? What did you like least?

Liked: The dialog for Boricio and narration by Ray Chase.

Did not like: The static audio glitches in several places. The repeated "alternate" line spoken by Boricio at about 2:30. The new narrators: Jeffrey Kafer and Tara Sands. It was also very hard to follow bouncing back and forth between worlds and between the different versions of the same person.

LOVED IT!

I listened right through seasons 1 & 2, finishing with this last book. I couldn't put them down. the story NEVER got old, it kept me listening all the way through. my only complaints are with this last one. there was interference occasionally, a static in the recording, that brought me out of make believe world for a few seconds. there were only a handful but annoying enough that some listeners may have given up. I HAD to finish the story however so I kept going. the other thing I didn't particularly like was the way the characters played their individual parts compared to the other books. it wasn't awful, and the narration wasn't terrible. it just didn't seem to quite match up to what I felt it should have after hearing from them over seasons 1 & 2. overall though an AMAZING series, well written and enjoyable.

Sped up to finish, not as good as expected

I struggled to finish, too many twists and turns to keep up with. Very messy.

Not scary any more.

Not nearly as scary as the earlier books. And with all the twists and turns, it's too much. Hard to keep track of what's going on and what is happening to who and who is where and in what world.... Like WTF. It's like the authors went on a 3 week acid binge to write the story line for this book. Cool your jets and calm down, sheesh. I'm done with the book and have NO freaking idea what happened, just that I can tell that it's over and the evil has subsided....for now. I mean, really? This was so predictable, my dead grandma would have been able to figure it out.

I already bought the 4th book in advance, and I'm kind of regretting that decision....
