First foray into Warhammer 40k universe...Awesome

After knowing of the WH40K universe for quite some time but never exploring it, I decided to take in a few youtube videos about the overall storyline.

After that, i decided to try one of the many books on Audible and decided based on reviews and ratings this was a good place to start.

It is. The book is an interesting and exciting listen. The narrator does an amazing job and his voice suits the characters and universe perfectly. Especially when he goes extra deep for the terrifying and commanding voices of a chaos marine, or to deliver an especially powerful psychic command.

Ill be continuing immediately onto books 2 and 3 and look forward to hear and learn more about this dark, gritty and morbidly terrifying universe.

Early 40k but still valid

The Eisenhorn series kicks off with a bang! This book establishes what is to become the epic journey of Gregor Eisenhorn, an Inquisitor for the Imperium of Man. If you are a fan of detective stories this is for you. The novel slightly skims the world of detective work while going heavy into early Warhammer 40,000 lore and universe structure but it is most definitely not held back by that structure. Dan Abnett is a force to be reckoned with!

One of the best Audio books.

Excellent book. I would recommend this to any scifi or warhammer fan. Eisenhorn is a very interesting character and I can't wait to listen the rest of his adventures.

It just doesn’t get any better.

I’ve waited for years for the black library to come to audible and I’m glad they offer the 3 credits for $35 because I’ll be binging every Warhammer I can get my hands on.

However, this is the series that got me hooked.
Incredible voice and character depth throughout the novel.
Eisenhorn is supremely well written and gripping and Toby Longworth does the classic sci-fi work credit with his pace and deep tonal quality. I’m so stoked to wrap up the series!

My intro to 40K lore

Wow! That was fun. It took me a few chapters to get my bearings but man did I love that story and the characters. I thoroughly enjoyed it as my first 40K story.

good slow sci-fi, but not 40k

too slow for my taste, change a handful of words and it's not even 40k. its closer to a hard sci-fit noir story. kinda boring, but there is a lot of detail

I love Inquisitor focus 40k stories but...

Very low burn and can, at times, be a bit choppy as to who is doing what and generally what is happening. But other than that, it's actually not a bad story. I think I'll check the sequel
