Publisher's summary

The time has come for Leman Russ, primarch of the Space Wolves, to fulfil his vow and attempt to stop Warmaster Horus before he breaks through to the Segmentum Solar.

In the face of opposition from three of his brother primarchs, Russ withdraws the Space Wolves legion from Terra and makes all haste for Horus’ position. Reports from Malcador the Sigillite’s agents suggest that Horus is utterly changed and infused with a diabolical power so great that no man can stand against him. A warrior of Fenris would never willingly abandon his oaths, but with Horus beyond the touch of mortal blades, the Lord of Winter and War may have doomed himself for the sake of honour....

Russ is a lovable idiot.

i liked it but the main flaw was that it sought to explain the rational of a stupid decision...

Fenris Hjolda!!!

The story is great. Russ is an amazing character and this book gives a deeper look into Russ, Horus and their relationship with the Emperor. I really enjoyed it and would suggest it for any Space Wolf fan.

fantastic, but maybe not worth the price

fantastic, but maybe not worth the price. Russ's voice was the best iteration of the character I've heard yet.

WARHAMMER

Warhammer Demigids fight for the fate of the universe. Need I say more?! also this was almost an audio drama with the different voices and inflections. it was not a robot but a flesh and blood reader that seemed devoted to the characters as much as you or I.

A good listen, but...

All of the Norse mythology parallels were the best part. The call backs to other books and continuity were on point. Keeble crushes the performance as always as he is the GOAT.

The progression of the timeline itself feels like very little was accomplished. Without spoiling anything it just kinda felt like a waste on the Vilka Fenrika's part.

Cawl doing Cawl things was very cool, but felt like a completely separate unlinked tale within the story. It was linked up in the end mildly but still had very little impact with the overall saga.

3.5 stars.

Pretty good book.

Good story except reused Norse mythology. Using Russ to representing Trials of Thor was lazy writing.

Made me like Space Wolves

I didn’t really find the 6th legion that interesting before, Viking space marines? Meh. But this book finally won me over to Russ and his sons. I found the descriptions of Fenris especially interesting, and seeing Cawl was a nice surprise.

You really need to have read Spirit of Vengeance first to get the most out of this one, in my opinion. Burning of Prospero wouldn’t hurt either, but this book serves as a follow up to a lot of the plot lines established in Spirit of Vengeance.
