Great second book in the series

This is the second book in the series and really expands on the survivors tales. Mostly we focus on Glory and Shadow, but there is a lot to tell on the other women as well. We also meet many supporting men, definitely see some future plot lines.

I really liked Glory and all her spunky goth attitude. She is just the sort of spicy gal I love reading. She is mostly okay with her curves, the low self esteem moments were sparse. She is a perfect match for big bold domineering Alpha Shadow! Oh boy, do they have some passionate chemistry!

The story here is narrated by the two leads switching smoothly between the two points of view. The transitions are great and seamless. I love this style because you get a more well rounded story in the end.

The steamy is chart toppingly hot!! OMG, I will forever associate NIN song Closer with this book! The details are delicious and just hit the spot erotically.

I listened to the audiobooks narrated by Clementine Cage, who is once again awesome. She has such a great tone to her voice that adds to Glory's snark. She is wonderful at adding energy to the read in all the right places. Definitely could leave you panting on the steamy parts! So many voices to keep track of, she does a great job of making them each different but they could be a touch more distinct.

The story this time is very involved, it gets more into the other survivors and surrounding areas. It is a great setup for the rest of the series but tend to make the main story feel dragged out. I understand why it had to be this way but it did slow down the pace of the story with all the exposition. The big plus is that it makes you hungry to know the other couples stories!

Alright addition to the series

3-3.5 stars

This was a good story. I liked Shadow and the story in general but Glory was not my favorite heroine by a long shot.

Glory is a goth and a BBW that gets caught in a plane crash that propels her and the rest of the passengers (the ones that survive) 50 years in to the future. Glory had been on the plane for a job interview and is happy she lived through the crash but when she seeks out help and discovers the world in now 50 years in to the future and everything has changed drastically...well Glory doesn't take that very well.

Shadow is part of the wolf clan and lives on the plains with his people. He's a wolf shifter and the beta for his clan, destined to be the alpha after his father steps down. He's been waiting a long time for his mate and when he finds Glory and another woman walking out on the empty plains he's thrilled to discover that she's his mate but winning her isn't as easy as he'd hoped.

When Shadow and Glory meet, Shadow tells her the truth about himself but doesn't tell her she's been propelled in to the future and she tries making assumptions about him...trying to figure he and the others are out in the middle of no where for a movie or something. She's quite willing to have sex with Shadow but balks when it becomes apparent that he's talking about more than just one night together. Glory is told about her situation (being in the future) but Glory is in heavy denial at first and keeps thinking she can call to get her interview rescheduled and get back to her life. When she's finally convinced that she's in the future and her situation has changed dramatically, she still isn't kind to Shadow and pushes him away and to be honest she was being rather mean to him. Glory kind of took the story down for me at times because I had trouble with her constant attitude and the way she treated Shadow. In the mean time, the other survivors from the plane (who amazingly are all females...um, really!?!?) arrive at the camp and Glory is busy helping to tend the wounded and such and Shadow is told to give her some time and let her get settled in to her new situation.

After a bit of time with the clan, Glory does eventually calm a bit towards Shadow and eventually they go to bed with each other, consummating their relationship. Since Shadow was a virgin, this part was a little on the humorous side as Glory had to explain what to do and such. There's plenty of drama as the story progresses because even though Glory and Shadow are together she hasn't really let up on him. The thing is that Glory is supposed to be an "alpha" female and I think her attitude was supposed to indicate how she wouldn't be owned or anything but many times it seemed like she was just being stubborn and belligerent for no reason. I mean Carla from book #1 was also supposed to be an alpha female but she didn't act like Glory... Because of some of the drama, Glory and Shadow are separated for the winter and Glory realizes just how much she's come to love Shadow. When they come together again she admits her feelings and they start their HEA.

Overall I enjoyed the story. Shadow was a good hero...he's alpha and tends to be bossy but overall he was a good guy who just wanted his woman and would do anything to please her. Glory did settle a bit as the book progressed but I have to admit her attitude made it hard for me to get invested her. Regardless of Glory bringing this book down a bit for me, I still intend to read book #3 in the series. :D

* note - The narrator did an alright job but I wasn't thrilled with Glory's voice...a little too butch.

Could've been better.....a so-so listen

What did you like about this audiobook?

I always love the shifter thing, although that was not a big part of the story. Very clever and intriguing how the characters from past/future reconnect. And the ending was very sweet and felt natural for the couple.

How has the book increased your interest in the subject matter?

I enjoyed the first one more and will definitely check out the 3rd when it's available in audio.

What did you find wrong about the narrator's performance?

I thought the narrator did a fair job but I really disliked how snarky/annoyed she made the main female character sound. Glory was already written way too sarcastic for my taste but the narrating kicked it up a notch....or three. The male lead was a similar situation. Even though he was supposed to be an alpha, it just didn't come across that way due to the writing and narrating combo. I think that was more of a character issue for me though.

Enjoyable

I found this book to be enjoyable. I would rate it 3 1/2:stars. The heroine sounded like Mae West which grated, and I didn't like her personality as much as some heroines. She lacked warmth, but she had some good qualities, so she wasn't horrible. I really liked Shadow, and I like the time travel premise of the story.

Enjoyable story that answers questions

This is the second book in the series after the crash. Glory Peterson was a goth girl who is claimed by Shadow when searching for help after her plane crashes 50 years in the future. She's dressed in a business suit and has pink hair and seriously bemoans the suit and the cost of it. She is not happy about the claiming but attracted to him at the same time. The Grandmother (oldest person alive in 300 miles) is Jill (her best friend and in her seventies). This relationship makes her transition easier.
Shadow is very Alpha and will be the clan Alpha when his father passes on. They have male/ female dominance challenges constantly, Although neither think of it in that way. Its nice and entertaining.
You get a better understanding on what occurred the day they took off from Colorado and more information on what happened on Earth. More characters are introduced that proceeds into the next book of the series. at this point we know all the names of the ladies who went for help. 5 are alive and one is dead. 29 women are rescued and several passed away when receiving care in he clan. no man survived the crash/ rescue. it doesn't mention how many children survived to be rescued at this time.
I did receive this story through audible escape and I would most likely use a credit for it, but would rather just pay 1.99. I'll keep an eye out for it being on sale.

Great to listen too

This book is about a plane crash that had people from the year 2014 to 50 years to the future. When the plane was down the people that was not hurt helped the people that was. After they got they taken care of the co pilot asked for some people to go look for help. She asked four sets of two pairs of women to the four corners of the world. Glory Peterson and Jane had gone another way and found people on horse back and looked like they was out of a old wild west movie. Shadow the leader of the group. The group took the women back the teepee's and the others. Glory was told that she was Shadow's mate but she does not know that she is not his mate and she will fight him about the mate thing. Shadow is a wolf and his wolf chose her as his mate. I will be reading more books like this and from this author.

Decent story but...

The main character was kinda rude and mean. The main characters voice was hard to listen to as well.

After the crash so good

I will recommend this fantasy series 100%. The individual stories of the woman from the plane crash are good, well written. I mean Glory and Shadow
had a lot of misunderstandings. He calls her sunshine was so sweet. Glory didn't care for it.
I recommend this series 100%. Also it's about family and support from each other.
