Publisher's summary

"I have always existed, not just me but all of us, the unembodied spirits who wait to live."

Tess is an unborn spirit who is about to embark on a much-awaited journey into mortality, to a brand-new planet called Earth. She is chosen by the Eternals for an important mission and is put under a rigorous training by a half-human, half-lion seraph. This training exposes Tess to some of her darkest fears and insecurities. These experiences force Tess to work on her gift as a discerner of thoughts and reader of auras, thus helping her become one of heaven's most powerful angels.

But even angels falter, and deep inside her a gnawing fear is growing. Will she meet her soul mate in life? Will their love be strong enough to overcome the forgetting effects of the Veil? And is she prepared to take on the responsibility of keeping the most dangerous renegade and leader of the Fallen Angels at bay during mortality?

Our Souls eternal

Who was your favorite character and why?

I like them all, they all had character and personalities that were relatable

Which character – as performed by Andrea Emmes – was your favorite?

she actually did the voices very well for all the characters. I was very able to distinguish who was talking by the voice or accents

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

the whole book did. It was very well thought out and really tied into my own beliefs and even took them a step further

Any additional comments?

I truly cannot wait for the next of the series I do believe it will be the life on earth part of the soul...

A Great Rendition!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Clean, fun read with lots of interesting new thoughts.

What other book might you compare Veiled to and why?

Veiled is a very unique Speculative Christian Fiction, much like The Chronicles of Narnia but mixed with a bit of The Ghost Whisperer.

What does Andrea Emmes bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Andrea Emmes has brought this story to life in a very unique way. She has woken up the charters and given them a new dimension of life.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There is a point in the story where I forgot the world around me and was sucked into the story so much that I refused to take my head phones off to do grocery shopping.

Any additional comments?

A great story told expertly!

Amazing narration but boring story.

Unfortunately this story wasn't for me. I found it quite boring and dull. I had to put it aside for a while and go back to it to see is I liked it any better, but it didn't. I struggled to finish. Even though I didn't like it, the narration was amazing! Andrea Emmes never fails to deliver. She has such an easy going voice and it's easy to listen to. She always gives it her all and it shows.

Before and In the Beginning

Veiled is a story of Tess who is an unborn spirit. Through the story, it begins with the voting of the Chosen and the Second. Readers/Listeners will know that the Chosen is Christ and the Second is Lucifer. Each unborn spirit create a clan to which they belong to.

As the story progress, Tess is discovering herself with her clan and also with another unborn spirit, Alex. Her clan does encountered in resisting the pull of the Second and those that followed him. Tess also witness the creation of Earth and the spirits that go into the Veil to be born and live their lives on Earth.

Veiled is an unique story of explaining the existence of angels and the divided choice of choosing whom to follow. Readers/Listeners will be able to recognize the Christianity with the implied existence of angels before Earth was created. It is a very interesting view of fiction mixing theology in the Veiled Series.

I am interested in reading about Tess and Alex when they entered into the Veil to be born on Earth and then later reborn as Angels. Readers/Listeners who have an interest in theology will enjoy reading/listening to this story.

The narrator Andrea Emmes does a wonderful job of narrating the story. The narrator gives Eternal, a synchronized voices to sound as one. For this series, I do hope she does come back as the narrator.

I was given this audiobook by the author/narrator/publisher via Audiobook Blast in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated or influenced in any way for writing this review.

Heaven sent

Who knows - could be! A sweet imaginary view of the "Before life". Is it destiny, fate or our lives being prompted by our guardian angels?

The narration was Ok until she tried accents. First of all, why would heavenly spirits, never born, have different nationalities? Mostly, the narrator failed to achieve any likeness to the accents she attempted.

I did enjoy the book and would like to follow the FRIENDS now that they have been born. To see their human stories as they unwittingly search for each other in this life.

This book was gifted to me in exchange for an unbiased review by the author via Audiobook Blast.

Niccum is a masterful storyteller ...

Imagine a world before Earth’s creation – imagine a world where there is nothing but spirits dividing themselves into clans and bonding together under the watchful eyes of the Eternals.  Imagine being given the choice of being a human and choosing to make a difference or not; taking the easy road or not; choosing to follow the First (Christ) or the Second (Lucifer).

All these decisions to make while also learning how to deal with various “gifts” such as the power of calming, discernment, reading auroras, mind reading, clairvoyance, wisdom, etc. Being a young spirit, Tess seeks her soul mate as well as finding her reason for being.  She knows she’s different from everyone but she has no clue just how different or why one of the Second’s followers has it in for her specifically.

Tess has a mission and it is dangerous but in order to be a powerful angel she must overcome her fears, doubts and accept her training.  Tess has one thing in her mind and that is finding her soul mate and hoping to find him yet again on earth should they choose to be born.  Doubts are Tess’s worst enemy. Can Tess be strong enough to complete the mission before her?  Make the right decisions? Be all that she needs to be for herself and her friends?

S.B. Niccum put a new spin on the fears, desires and doubts that face young adults.  She has the story take place in a unique location and builds the world slowly but in great detail drawing the listener in deeply.  She expresses the fears and doubts teenagers and young adults are faced with daily and brings them together significantly to prove that we’re not perfect, we all have doubts and fears.

I was impressed with Andrea Emmes, narrator.  She moved through this book effortlessly owning each and every character she gave voice to.  Her voice resonates with emotion and excitement as the story moves forward.  She never missed a beat and spoke clearly and with passion.  I loved listening to her.

The story itself was slow at first but then picked up momentum capturing the listener’s attention fully.  Niccum is a masterful storyteller and creator of worlds.  I enjoyed this story and look forward to hearing more in the series.

There were no issues with the production quality of this audiobook.

Unborn Spirits!!

What an amazing story! This story that S.B. Niccum has written is unique and it shows that the authors talent for writing is perfect and the details she wrote in this story is pure perfection. This story was vivid, intriguing and unlike any other story that I've listened to. There were many things about this story that was fascinating. It has specific details that fits each and every character. There's mystery, suspense, love, and many twists along the way. I can't wait to see where this author will take me next. I do hope to find out so I hope she adds the other books to Audible. I won't find out any other way unless I listen to it. If she does add the entire series to Audible, I suggest she keeps Andrea Cenna as the narrator.

Andrea Emmes Cenna did another fantastic job as she breathed life into this story, Veiled. She really brought life into this story. I loved how soothing and comfortable her voice was. Andrea's voice was made for a story like this one. She did a magnificent job distinguishing each character's accents and voices and that made it easy to listen to. I was able to identify each character as they changed throughout the story. A very enjoyable story and I give it a perfect 5 star rating. This is a story I highly recommend and I really hope the author will add the other books to Audible.

Would you consider the audio edition of Veiled to be better than the print version?

This book goes against my beliefs so after the first 10 minutes I knew I would not continue to listen. To be fair to the author and narrator I rated this book as 5 stars because I did not listen and cannot give a a fair an unbiased review. I'm sorry about that.
