After the third book, I was at first frustrated by this book switching back (mostly) to the characters from the second book. But really, the third book is the one that's unnecessary (at least perhaps until book 5, if one comes). The series could end here instead of Wells trying to make it a career. The plot is as slow moving as in the previous three installments, but if you don't mind that, it's pretty good. Another viewpoint is added by a story-line featuring Earth. Although reminiscent of the WWW trilogy, I found this Earth story line more engaging than the rest.
The reader still fouls up on pronouncing some common words. Apparently there is no editor to catch such things.
