Publisher's Summary

Time is a resource. Everyone knows it has to be managed. And on the Discworld that is the job of the Monks of History, who store it and pump it from the places where it's wasted (like the underwater; how much time does a codfish need?) to places like cities, where there's never enough time. But the construction of the world's first truly accurate clock starts a race against, well, time for Lu Tze and his apprentice, Lobsang Ludd. Because it will stop time. And that will only be the start of everyone's problems. Thief of Time comes complete with a full supporting cast of heroes, villains, yetis, martial artists, and Ronnie, the fifth Horseman of the Apocalypse (who left before they became famous).

Highly Recommended

I've listened to this so many times and though I adore the story itself, the narration is excellent and really brings it alive. I would highly recommend this!

Light and fun

A very pleasant book to listen to while getting some exercise. Although apparently laughing while running is not a good idea. I almost fell off the treadmill.

Brilliant -

clever and funny and compassionate and makes one's world somehow less cruel and stupid.
God bless Sir Saint Terry. I have been an enthusiastic fan since I stumbled upon his 2nd book. He is the only author I bought in hard back in my lowly paid years. Little cash versus a wait - no contest.
Anyhow and however, in print this had been one of my lower rated diskworld novels. As an audiobook it is in my top3.
Stephen Briggs narration is clear and perfectly paced. The characters are "just right" for my imagination and well demarkated but unobtrusively so.

Excellent narration of one of my favourite books

Would you listen to Thief of Time again? Why?

Thief of Time has brilliant pacing and keeps your attention throughout. I enjoy sharing time with the monk Lu-Tze and it's always nice to hear more about Death and Susan. Along with the Auditors, Jeremy and the forgotten Fifth Horseman of the Apocalypse, there is a great cast to gel with throughout this book.

The plot revolves around the Auditors wanting to bring order to the universe in their own crazy way and contains a healthy amount of reflection of real-world culture in a humorous and fantasy style. Stephen Briggs is an excellent narrator and clearly has a strong bond with the Discworld universe which allows him to bring a fun and enthusiastic portrayal of the story to the audio book.

Brilliant as usual

Terry Pratchett writes another intriguing tale and Steven Briggs gives his usual outstanding narration. There is little to fault anout this book except to say yhat when you are as good as Mr Pratchett you are held to a VERY high standard and he has written better stories.

Awesome all round.

I am reading the Pratchett in series order. This is the first Death book read by Stephen Briggs and even though his version of Death is different, I think I prefer Stephen's narration. Both Nigel and Stephen are very good narrators, Stephen's seem to be a more consistent quality in term of sound.

This is by far my favourite in the Death series. You won't be disappointed with the story or the narration.
