Publisher's summary

There was a time when the woods near Duva ate girls - or so the story goes. But it's just possible that the danger may be a little bit closer to home. This story is a companion folk tale to Leigh Bardugo's debut novel, Shadow and Bone.

Fantastic

For such a short story, there was a lot of depth to it. It has everything you remember loving from fairytales as a child with a dark twist that keeps you captivated until the last word.

A short but enthralling folk tale of the Grisha

THE WITCH OF DUVA

Author: Leigh Bardugo

Type of Book: Audiobook - Unabridged

Narrator: Lauren Fortgang

Length: 52 minutes

Genre: Fantasy

Release Date: August 19, 2014

Publisher: Audible Studios

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

* I purchased this short audiobook from www.audible.com

It is rare that I find an author that I enjoy enough to seek out all of their other published works. Leigh Bardugo is just such an author.

Her debut novel, entitled "SHADOW AND BONE" was the first book in the Grisha Trilogy.

This is a short folk tale that is the companion to SHADOW AND BONE. Despite it's short length it is an entertaining tale.

They say that girls should avoid the woods around Duva. They say that the woods eat girls who wander there. Is there a monster or a witch in the woods? You'll be surprised and delighted to find out who is the culprit.

The narrator is the same one used in the Grisha trilogy which offers the listener a sense of continuity and she does a wonderful job.

I rate both the narration and the story as 5 out of 5 stars.

Nice little intro to the series

It's a typical witch of the wilds kind of story, though not haggish in the least. I found it to be a good little intro/side story.

Thrills & Chills Await You

This is thrillingly chilling! This twisty tale will lure you in with it's gore and darkly dangerous atmosphere. The end was mind bending. No one sets the stage and introduces the players quite like Leigh Bardugo. This is a masterpiece that will stay with you. There were a few times when I knew what was coming, only to have everything flipped upside down.

Wow, Short But Deep

Wow this chilling tale was short but so thought provoking and well thought out. Immediately when the story was over I had to listen to it a second time (and might listen yet againn) because there were so many bread crumbs and details throughout. I caught new details and meanings the second time around, and the story meant even more, whereas the initial time listening the ending took me by total surprise. Lots of dark, grim, and depressing details but with a satisfying ending.
The narrator did such a fine job delivering this chilling tale, I'll look for more from her as well.

Grisha Fairytale

Good short story. This is definitely a Grisha-verse fairytale. Definitely worth 30-60 min of your time. The narrator did a good job.

Brilliant dark fairytale

I loved every part of this book; however I cannot recommend you buy it. I instead recommend you buy "The Language of Thorns" by the same author, which has this story included in its collection.
