Publisher's summary

The magic flames are raging. Blades are melting. Souls are reduced to ashes in the fury of battle. The grand finale of the war for the First Temple is upon us. The last trump cards have been played, the reserves are all exhausted, and even the gods have engaged in the plebeian fight. The universe is on the point of collapse. Broken are the chains that held the worlds together. The icy waters of the Baltic cool the scorching sands of the Frontier. The creatures of AlterWorld spill the first blood on the quiet streets of Earth's cities. What is Max to do? Become embittered and butcher his enemies? Seize the deserted castles and abandoned lands? Attempt to save the one who had given her life for him? Or try to win the jackpot by finding a way home, back to Earth?

It's worth the listen

This is NOT the best book in the series, I gave it 5 stars across the board because the first few books were fantastic. This series has become an all time favorite for me. Granted, it started strong, and got.. less good, along the way. Regardless, the world Rus created was incredible, the characters had depth, even the lesser ones. Overall, anyone who has made it this far in the series should go ahead and listen to the end. Anyone who is thinking about starting the series.. Do it! I love this series, and will probably re listen in a year or two.

I guess it's over?

I'm glad I got some sort of closure to the series but in my opinion this boom felt extremely rushed. I mean, previous books managed to go on for pages just explaining loot management. this one took a gigantic amount of unresolved plot and tied it up in the messiest bow I've ever seen. worth a read but don't expect too much.

Ok series

You have to stomach through the author's idiosyncrasy but overall is an ok series. Across several of the books you will find comments that implies the view that the American way of living is inherently decadent, also comments that refer to lesbians as degenerates and one of the most deranged characters of course has to be gay. On top of that, there are comments that constantly push the idea of the "traditional family "with a strong male presence and a submissive wife. The books are not bad on themselves but you have understand the cultural background of the write...I mean he comes from a country in which any public gay reference can get you arrested. There are plenty of cringe worthy moments, the story is not ground breaking and at times the pacing could be better but if you are bored and looking for something that will go on for several hours in the background this is not a bad option . I will say that the ending get on the last book felt really rushed, like if the author just wanted to get it over with.

Another decent book by D. RUS

Man... Left hanging on a cliff hanger!! The series is starting to get a bit more murky as for several books now he's treated stats as anecdotal filler rather than integral to the world (in that the calculations stopped making sense a long time ago, and now numbers are being thrown out for numbers sake. He's also greatly expanded the world while leaving tons of loose ends or conflicting information. That said I'm still enjoying the books for what they are and look forward to what comes next. It's a shame to see the next 3 books have not made it through translation and/or narration yet. I imagine the current political climate may have something to do with it.

It's funny how many people in the comments complain about russian politics and propoganda in the books as though they weren't written by a Russian author for a Russian audience and then anecdotally translated and distributed to other languages and nations. Authors of every other country do the same thing.
