Publisher's Summary

Part of the west coast is recovering from a series of devastating earthquakes. This caused a record drop in the stock market, and due to a national debt of twenty trillion dollars, the value of the dollar is on the edge of collapsing.
At the same time, after a civil rights organization is hijacked, riots start breaking out across the country, which could lead to a new civil war.
Our enemies see our weakness and know it's time to take their place as world leaders. However, they must neutralize the American command structure first. Two countries have come up with a way and have set everything into motion to do just that.
Vince and Kim Johnson live on a farm forty-miles to the southeast of Kansas City, Missouri. After serving seventeen years in the Army, due to an injury, Vince had to take a medical retirement. Now, all he thinks he must fight is cabin fever. Little does he know that a chain of events is about to take place that will test all his training and skills.
He must also learn how to balance two types of love from two different women and not let temptation consume him. Both must band together with family, inexperienced friends, plus four of the men Vince served with years earlier, to prepare for and try to survive a time unlike any in our history.
This is an Apocalyptic Survival Novel that those from the far-left and some religious fundamentalists don't want you to read. The left attacks it as it shows how their policies could push us into the final Apocalypse.
The fundamentalists attack because it uses real world language and tells a story about facing temptation and jealousy, which they don’t approve of.
It also encourages all of us to check things out for ourselves. Both know when we do, they start losing their ability to manipulate the truth.
Finally, it shows why all of us should prepare for the unexpected, emergencies and even disasters, as there may not always be some government agency to come to our rescue.

Great entry into the series.

Several earthquakes on the West Coast caused stress and volatility in the population and the stock market. With the U.S. debt reaching twenty trillion and the U.S. dollar on shaky ground, the U.S. couldn’t stand much more stress. Our enemies saw this as an opportunity. Iran and Russia developed a plan to take advantage of the situation, which unfortunately worked like a charm. Thus begins the tribulation with an attack on Washington and a massive EMP. The focus of the story is on the Johnson family, Vince and Kim who live outside of Kansas City, Missouri. In an opportune exchange Vince is contacted by one of his old war buddies. His old friend and the other three buddies are invited to Vince’s farm for the duration. The story continues with the Johnson crew consolidating supplies, acquiring whatever additional supplies and ammunition they could find, and fortifying the homestead. One of Vince’s sons is a deputy sheriff who is home with Vince, the second son is on the other side of the coin escaping from prison due to an airplane crash into its midst. Additional stories of survival appear throughout and there are a few sub plots which add to the tension or compassion. This is a great entry into the series; with wonderful characters, excellent writing and a fine narrator. I look forward to more from this author and this series.
