The Oversight of London has been sworn for millennia to prevent the natural and the supernatural worlds from preying on each other. Ruined by author as narrator

Authors should never narrate their own work. Charlie Fletcher doesn't make too bad a go at it (pacing is off & he's rather too plummy, struggling to differentiate characters) but he could be worse. What really spoiled it for me is the amateurish mic technique and mastering by the studio. I can hear every tiny little bubble of saliva in his mouth pop and squish constantly, and it's pretty gross. The story I'm enjoying; not quite as much as the previous instalment, but if you enjoy the series it's definitely worth a go... if you can, though, I'd suggest the book rather than the audiobook.

Should have stayed witht he original narrator.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I loved the first book, the narrator was very good. I didn't enjoy the second book so much but only because the narrator was changed and the story was read by the author and he wasn't as good. Now on the third book, I'm sending it back. I can hear all the workings of his mouth, it sounds like his tongue is dry or something. I'll buy the paper version as I really enjoyed book 1 and I'd like to know the end.

What did you like best about this story?

I didn't finish it.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

He's a writer and not an actor. It didn't work for me.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Remnant?

Don't know, I gave up.

Any additional comments?

Writers should resist thinking of themselves as actors.
