Publisher's summary

Volume 1 of The Hungering Saga

A man is not great because he is a good man. A great man can be good, evil, or any shade of gray in between. A great man is a man who sees the world around him, and changes it to suit him, instead of letting it change him to suit itself. Lowin Fenly didn't want to be a hero, and he never thought of being a villain, but sometimes the path that must be walked by great men leads to dark places. Body twisted by dark magic, the scribe-turned-Knight must learn to control the beast he is becoming, or risk losing the few remnants of humanity he clings to.

Truly, how noble are each and every one of us?

Would you consider the audio edition of The Noble Fool to be better than the print version?

I personally have a lot of drive time on my hands and prefer audio books to print.

What did you like best about this story?

It is a true fantasy with right and wrong so razor close to each other you question what you would do if forced into this dark world. Once you believe you know that "yes" this is the right thing, the good thing, the noble thing to do...you are faced with another moral choice that could alter yours and everyone's future. Lots of action with great imagery. I wish I could see these characters with my own eyes!

What does Paul J. McSorley bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He breathes life into each and every uniquely written character. He makes you care, love and hate all at the same time with his voice. He is very easy to listen to and keeps the story flowing at the right pace throughout the entire book. I never felt rushed or felt as if there was a lack for the slower parts of the book to get on with. Perfect! I'm ready for book 2 McSorley!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Being Noble is no fools journey!

Any additional comments?

Thought provoking story set in a dark world

The Noble Fool is a book that makes you question what it means to be honorable, noble, and if there are ever undisputed good deeds. What if the price of a good deed is that you'll have to preform another deed so dark and terrible that the villain of your own story wont do it? What role do physical intimacies play in love, in friendship, and in the darkness of this world? The Noble Fool is a knights tale, but it features characters that lay all across the spectrum of dark and light, and the story makes no promises about which side is the right one.

Fine line between good and evil

If you could sum up The Noble Fool in three words, what would they be?

Exciting, Riviting, Emotional

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Noble Fool?

There were many memorable moments of The Noble Fool! I would ruin the storyline for others by mentioning them. Listening to the characters evolve keeps you on the edge of your seat. Can't wait to start the next book in this series! !

Have you listened to any of Paul J. McSorley’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listened to other recordings by this narrator. Personally, I feel his skills grow with every book he narrates. The voices he gives the characters in The Noble Fool allow me to actually visualize the person talking. He brings you into the story as if you are actually watching the story unfold.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

The humanity of the beast...

McSorley's golden tones pull off this tale!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, it has a strong storyline brought to life with a gifted narrator, a fantasy epic to be reckoned with.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I like the main character who doesn't shy from action and snappy dialogue.

What does Paul J. McSorley bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Mr. McSorley is the master's touch in this competent story. His rich voice nourishes like sweet, warm honey--his versatility is first rate among major narrators. The even, well modulated voice is easy listening and when the extra octane is needed he delivers--sometimes understated--never tiresome--exciting when necessary. This product is made much better by his expert voice.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes indeed; no impulse to move--just listen.

Any additional comments?

I can recommend this audiobook due primarily to the deft narration--a great book to play and just relax!

Very good!

The narrator did an amazing job with the characters, giving them the feel of personality and depth that some narrators sometimes don't. The story was very intresting and things didn't always go the way you thought they would wich was a pleasant surprise. The thing i liked the most about this audiobook was the way the characters gain their powers, not just the usual train hard, become a wizard, explode the world thing, but something original. I hope the other books of this series gets released on audible soon!

The Fool

What disappointed you about The Noble Fool?

The story seem to have a good foundation but was put together sloppily. Seems every one has no sense of morals or ethics, heck even the "hero" is will to kill some one because he owed a favor. But heck Lowin is so weak willed he could probably be talked in to most any thing

What could Heath Pfaff have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Thing need explanations. That is all i can say with out giving to much away.

How could the performance have been better?

Paul was okay but his voice was wrong for this. The whole book reminded me of the Daniel Garrett voice from hard magic, it was good for the most part but even the arguments and threats sounded it was a friend just pulling your leg.

What character would you cut from The Noble Fool?

Lowin, whats the point of a main character who doesn't really have his own mind

Any additional comments?

With a different narrator i might give the next book a chance.

Honestly

I was not a huge fan of the readers accent. He was unable to captivate me with his speaking and this was a first for me. Second, I think the story needs to go into more detail with the relationships of the characters. For example, he falls in love with his partner and he doesn't even know her, then when he finds out she is alive after barely introducing her, he is "so angry he has to be contained". I can understand this, but the way it was worded made it sound cheesy. This is the first book I am unable to finish and I hope it gets rewritten. It has a good concept, but that is all.
