Publisher's summary

Written with input from director Rian Johnson, this official adaptation of Star Wars: The Last Jedi expands on the film to include scenes from alternate versions of the script and other additional content.

From the ashes of the Empire has arisen another threat to the galaxy’s freedom: the ruthless First Order. Fortunately, new heroes have emerged to take up arms - and perhaps lay down their lives - for the cause. Rey, the orphan strong in the Force; Finn, the ex-stormtrooper who stands against his former masters; and Poe Dameron, the fearless X-wing pilot, have been drawn together to fight side-by-side with General Leia Organa and the Resistance. But the First Order's Supreme Leader Snoke and his merciless enforcer Kylo Ren are adversaries with superior numbers and devastating firepower at their command. Against this enemy, the champions of light may finally be facing their extinction. Their only hope rests with a lost legend: Jedi Master Luke Skywalker.

Where the action of Star Wars: The Force Awakens ended, Star Wars: The Last Jedi begins, as the battle between light and dark climbs to astonishing new heights.

You will love the audio version.

I am blind, and after I heard the movie in the theater, I was told that the visual effects were not as good as previous films in the franchise, So after I heard this audio version of the novel, I was very impressed. I am also pleased that the director of the film had a hand in writing the novel. I like his inclusion of alternate scrips, and deleted scenes, as in many of the books in the star wars series, I find that you get a deeper look into some of the characters. I was pleased to hear what look was going through since his nephew turned to the dark side, and why he was so reluctant to help the resistance. I like the look into Ren's character as well, and I was amazed at the turn in the plot that was not expected. If you have not seen the film, and are listening to this for the first time, you will be shocked at the plot twist. All in all, this book is well written, and the performance is well done as usual with all the audio novels in this series.

Disappointing ... great performance, weak story

I really love Star Wars. This story was so weak I cannot recommend it. I feel as if the whole thing was just a thrown together plot mover that leaves the reader sad and underwhelmed. Please make the next one better ...

Wow so Bad

the stuff with Luke Skywalker just sucks. I'm not sure why they would write a book and the movie where it seems they go out of their way to make you not like the characters. the old canon books were way better then this crap

Not much difference...

If you didn't like the movie... You won't like this book... And vice versa 😊

Utter tripe.

Disney saw fit to double down on their Mary-Sue. This is just another installment of garbage from Disney since they bought Lucasfilm.

Rian Johnson doesn't understand a legacy.

The disappointing aspect of this story is Johnson's trying to remove anything Skywalker. His need to change the first trilogy, the prequels and their focus on this family to somehow make it relevant to todays audience is horrible.

Great author. amazing voice. Crap story. Thx Rian

The author had to devote a ton of time to fixing Rian Johnsons moronic mistakes. Johnson got so caught up trying to play "gotcha" with fan boyz that he just ruined the story. Good luck to Abrams in trying to fix this idiotic debacle.

I will probably never listen to it again.

You know kids today can't even get into the new movies, stories, books. Kids today prefer the original trilogy movies, characters, toys, you name it and all even though the original trilogy came out nearly 30 years before some of these kids where born.

I've owned this audiobook now for almost a year and I haven't listened to it since the first couple months that I bought it.

Give it a listen, it's a good performance and adds to the movie. If you are like me, you grew up through it all and your a sucker for Star Wars. Just because it's Star Wars doesn't mean you have to like it.

The struggle is real

What made the experience of listening to The Last Jedi the most enjoyable?

I love Star Wars and the books before Disney took over were so much better than the stories today. Marc Thompson is a great narrator, he has taken a story that is unbearable and brought some life to it. The problem is that this book brings some understanding to the story behind the movie but it still has the horrible writing from the movie to have to deal with. I am sorry to say that it is becoming harder and harder to stay with a story that is slowly falling into an unbearable black hole of boringness.

I cheered at the end!

I love audiobooks however, this was my first fiction. I’m a fan of Star Wars. I didn’t expect this book reading to be so dramatic with sound effects and score. The experience of this book was what I hope people who are blind get.
I have never been on the edge of my seat like this with an audiobook! I certainly will listen to again. May the force be with you.
