Absolute crap. This is rape-porn pure and simple. The only decent part is that the narrator has a nice voice.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

it should be possible to write a book with suspense, murder, lust, and hope without all the unbelievable rape, and murder then instant forgiveness, this was so far fetched in terms of believability of reactions of the characters that it was rendered unsustainable

Would you ever listen to anything by J. E. Taylor again?

How did the narrator detract from the book?

the narration was great

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Any additional comments?

If only...

If only Taylor had written the Grey trilogy...

Taylor has a great literacy gift, if strange taste in storyline. Main characters: Jessica, beautiful 42 yo mother of two, Tye 30 yo tortured/turned dark soul, Tom Whitman (actor playing Superman in "Smallville") and Jessica's 8 yo son, Eric. The bad guy: Frank, step brother to Tye.

Frank runs a black-market porn recording studio, notorious for its superb, digitally enhanced graphics - except they aren't digitally enhanced at all. The girls are really being tortured and killed for your viewing pleasure. Frank runs a tight ship and is quite the maniac. Tye goes through the motions, apparently hardly phased one way or another until he meets Jessica.

Jessica is a dance teacher and apparently her taste/stamina for this kind of treatment is somewhat more substantial than that of their other "stars".

Throw in a little supernatural talent and it's not a terrible story line.

There are three books combined into this package, each sequel set five years after the last. The sex scenes are maybe a little too numerous but the variety of descriptions is a welcome relief after reading the Fifty Shades books.

The one, recurring thought I had whilst listening to this was: I wish Taylor had written the Grey trilogy. That storyline would have done much better in her hands.

I suspect Kimberly Henrie nailed the narration pretty much perfectly. Very breathy. Sometimes it was difficult to work out if she was saying Tye or Tom, but otherwise I imagine she did it quite well.
