Publisher's summary

The Dark has nearly consumed the planet. Men and beasts have been stripped of their minds, their bodies twisted to serve the Master's will. Her army now numbers in the trillions and is led by two supreme generals. Even the mages have no power to stop her. Driving the survivors to a last bastion of freedom, she calls for the decimated army to surrender.

But mankind stands defiant.

From the ashes of nations the people have united, and together they brace for the impending storm. Bereft of retreat or refuge, they hold to a single hope - that the Oracle can destroy the Dark before everyone is slaughtered. Facing the end, the Oracle must rise to her birthright and find that which can cleanse the Earth of darkness.

Fight, Fight, Fight, then Deus Ex.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Too many passages of fighting. Just way too many. And they seemed to get a little repetitive. After 50 fights against OVERWHELMING odds, you kind of start to lose a little something for the fighters. Especially after they do some of the stupidest stuff ever. Hey, let's leave this OP guy alive - who pops back up to kick your teeth in. Didn't see that coming? I did.

If you’ve listened to books by Ben Hale before, how does this one compare?

Other than the fact he kept confusing Derrick's voice with Iris, awesome.

What three words best describe Derek Perkins’s voice?

I don't know.

Do you think The Forge of Light needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Maybe because it would be almost interesting to see if he could write more than three paragraphs without a 20 paragraph BAH fight scene. The ending was pretty optimistic, despite how dark the whole series was. Don't see how it can continue.

Any additional comments?

I"M DONE. YEAH. So dark! Almost depressing. SPOILERS: You killed Jack? and Breaker? and most terribly of all Hawk - once. But a jerk like Cayden gets two or three? Really? And isn't the myth "from the ashes, the Phoenix will rise"? That you didn't is one of the biggest FAILS of these novels. What's up with that? What's the point of Hawk being a phoenix? What? OOh that still gets my goat. And all those WTH moments. And no last words from Iris? Ugh!

Easy listening

The story was easy to follow, being young adult. It carried well. The performance of the narrator was good. My only comaint is that all of the male voices were raspy and not well distinguished.

a fantastic conclusion to the series

Mr hale does a fantastic job of wrapping up the series in this final book. there's tragedy and joy in equal measures and while the series does get a happy ending it doesn't rob the story of its meaning by erasing the stakes and letting everyone be happy.

Wonderful series

This series is a non stop rollercoaster of action and emotion. As my preference, I would have preferred one less book and less battle descriptions. They get tiering, even tho interesting and super creative.

The reader, Derek Perkins does an absolutely amazing job! Without his performance, this book could have been dull. He injected the perfect tones, cadence and intonation. His voice is clear and the pace is perfect. Bravo!!

Disappointed

Read previous series. Was extremely disappointed. Thought I’d try another series by this author not realizing it was a sequel. Loved the first book although it stole most of its story from the Harry Potter series. The second was all right, the third barfly mediocre, but this one reverted to the same pathetic quality I found in the first series. My guess is when the author got past Harry Potter and had to be original his imagination wasn’t up to it. The reader is great in so many ways, but his style suffers greatly in this awful story
