Why change narrators???????

The first book, narrated by Katherine Kellgren was SO well done! I hate that they changed the narrator for each book. Kellgren was integral in creating the world that made me want to continue listening to this series on Audible as opposed to buying the books and reading them myself. In fact, I did buy the second instalment to read it myself because I didn't want to wreck the picture that she created with the voices she used and the way she read it. I only bought this one on audible because of lack of time to sit down and read. Really really unfortunate that they had to go and do that. That's not to say that it's performance is bad. It's just really annoying that it changed with every book when the first was so so amazing.

I understand the end, but I wasn't crazy about it. I'm not really sure you are supposed to be though.

Meaningful Parallels to Today

The book was great, with meaningful topics that extend into today's world. The only thing that was slightly off was the male voices in the performance (it made me laugh). The book however was thought provoking. A great book if you like anti-utopian literature with character development and fantasy elements.

the second worst literary heroine...

...I've ever had the misfortune to read. twilight's being the first.

i really enjoyed the first two books. all i can say about the third is it feels like the author tried to tell a story beyond her publicist's deadline, copped out, trash every character she'd carefully built through the first two books, and shoved out a canned deus ex machina to force a happy ending. i could have believed it all better if humanity had failed, everyone died, and the promise land of redemption fell as all humanity must fall, to our own petty self involvements.

the real crime though is the tear heir. how any individual who is supposedly so versed in fiction and learned while actually living in a world full of magics can be that freaking blind to the function of her own birthright is so unbelievable as to constantly break the story immersion every time she professes confusion or not knowing what's going on... which is quite literally every single time she pops up in book three. Gutenberg save me from trite literary tropes!

I’m crushed it’s over

I have not been this into a book series since the Harry Potter series and now that it’s over I don’t know how I’ll find a new book to read. The thought that went into this story is unlike any other. It’s rare for the third book of a series to be just as good if not better than the first of the series. I absolutely loved everything about this.

Enjoyable...until the ending

A fascinating story of politics and motivation until the ending made the whole series completely pointless. A wonderful narration and enjoyable until a cheap ending completely disappointed.

Which there were more

Enjoyed all 3 of the books so much, The narrator was great Really brings you into it, If you're worried that the book seems too long no worries it doesn't feel that long At all that's how great the book is very sad that it is over it was a happy ending but not so happy Tough to be a hero

Narration 👎 ending 👌

Really… the narration nearly ruined it. And snapped me out of the story into “geez this is just ridiculous” every time a male voice was spoken. Does anyone remember that episode of Bones when Brennen thought she should narrate her own books? She plays a sample for Booth and it seems to start of okay until she gets to Agent Andy’s voice and it’s a raspy gurgly auditory horror show… it’s *just* like that. No lie. But the story was good enough to keep me listening until the end without the need to just give up and get the physical book.
Now the ending… I think I understand why people are having a hard time with it but I really appreciate what the author did. (As vague as I can get without spoilers…) it wasn’t just a happy ending and “the end” it further explored the emotional repercussions and I felt it.

What a sloppy ending.

The first book was okay. Stayed interested enough. The second book was leaps and bounds better. The third book, while not as good, was alright... Until the end. I won't spoil it, but it was such a lazy cop out. Bums me out because I actually cared about a few of the characters. I won't be reading Beneath the Keep because of the taste this left in my mouth. Bleh.
