Phenomenal second installment

A real nailbiter of a story, the narrator is fantastic with great diversity of voice. The story is likewise written skillfully by King with excellent pacing and interesting characters.

Fantastic

Another fantastic novel by Stephen King. When I first read The Gunslinger (The First in the Dark Tower Novel) it felt to me, more like a Western. I had a vision of Clint Eastwood in a bad Western movie. I pushed through it as it's Stephen King and I expected that The Dark Tower series as a whole would get better and really bring out the parts of King's books that I love and that I have come to expect from the master that is Stephen King.

At the very start of The Drawing of the Three, it grabbed me. It struck me straight away as different from The Gunslinger and once this one grabbed me, it didn't let me go, not even for a second. Every word of this book drew me in and I was fully under the spell. It is a great novel and one that read more like a Fantasy.

If you are planning on reading The Dark Tower series and you are unsure about it, I urge you to read it anyway. Push your way through The Gunslinger if you have to because you will not regret it once you get to this novel.

The Drawing of the Three has me firmly in the Dark Tower series and I can't wait to read more of it.

Had me hooked!

This was totally unexpected after experiencing the first book of this series but it had me hooked very quickly and I am chomping at the bit to get started on the next installment! If you are reading this review, have no doubt that Stephen King is a master of words and this will not disappoint. The narration is on point and made falling into this story such a pleasure! Frank Muller brought things to life in a way that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Deeply compelling story, madly talented narrator.

Forget all clichés about Stephen King. The prose of this book is colourful, the suspense tangible, and the fantastical atmosphere juxtaposed against a brutal sense of reality makes the twists all the more exciting. Moreover, I believe this narrator (Frank Muller) could do any accent he wanted; enhance all suspense intended within the words. Fantastically entertaining!
