Story
A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground. The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot.

Publisher's summary
Knowledge is power. That would be the motto of Lander University, had it not been snatched up and used to death by others long before the school was founded. For while Lander offers a full range of courses to nearly all students, it also offers a small number of specialty classes to a very select few. Lander is home to the Hero Certification Program, a curriculum designed to develop students with superhuman capabilities, commonly known as Supers, into official Heroes. Five of this year's freshmen are extra special. They have a secret aside from their abilities - one that they must guard from even their classmates.
For every one person in the world with abilities they can control, there are three who lack such skill. These lesser super beings - Powereds, as they are called - have always been treated as burdens and second-class citizens. Though there has been ample research in the area, no one has ever succeeded in turning a Powered into a regular human, let alone a Super.
That is, until now....

Story
I spent most of my life trying to get by with whatever happiness I could, that included alcohol, food, and porn. My death was unpleasant and humiliating. However, death is something we all need to go through. A bit like a proctology exam: necessary, but never anything one wants to go through while it's happening. However, death was supposed to be the end of it. Either way, the pain, suffering, and failures were supposed to be over. No, I ended up as a small stone, strapped to a table, while a pimple-faced teenager rubbed my facets and told me how "lovely" I was.

Story
Most people would be overjoyed to win $50,000 and the chance to star in a nation-wide commercial, even if it was just for a fast food joint like Camelot Burger. Then again, Clint Tucker has never been like most people. Ushered to the tropical paradise of Kenowai, he and the other winners undertake an island tradition for the cameras, one meant to free a local imprisoned deity. One with very specific requirements that have yet to be met. One that might just be a bit more authentic than any of them expected.

Who wants to be a superhero? Hope did, but she grew out of it. Which made her superhuman breakthrough in the Ashland Bombing, just before starting her freshman year at the University of Chicago, more than a little ironic. And now she has some decisions to make. Given the code-name "Astra" and invited to join the Sentinels, Chicago's premier super-team, will she take up the cape and mask and become a career superhero? Or will she get a handle on her new powers (superstrength has some serious drawbacks) and then get on with her life plan?

Brillant!
I loved this story.
This story centers around 5 super powered kids, who until an experimental surgery, haven't had control of their powers.
The narrorator does an excellent job with changing his voice for each character and pulls you into the story.
To me, the story is more like a season of a TV series, unlike most books which strive to be a movie.
Love the all the details, and the way it was written. And as an added bonus, I now know which super power I wish I had...

It Grows On You
Cliché but true! I did not care much for the narrator initially, and the story seemed more highschool than college when I read the plot. Listening to it initially though it was not long before the characters, writing style, and even the performance won me over. Totally worth the listen!

Great story and characters. Narrator needs to be played at 1.5 speed
It took me a while to get into this one because the narrator was so slow and funky sounding. Once I turned up the speed to 1.5 it made all the difference. Already reading the next book. Can’t wait to see what happens next!!

My favorite series in a long time
From start to finish a wonderful story, I recommend it to every single one of my friends. The character development is believable and meaningful, they are also relatable and easy to get attached to. The narration makes it easy to follow along even when there are a dozen characters talking to each other. I could write an essay on the wonders of this book between the writing and the narration, but I won't for now and instead just urge you to get this and listen to the series yourselves.

Really, Drew....Your Killing me!
This is packaged as a fun, super kids go to college. I felt it was going to be Animal House meets Super High.
Alas, I was mistaken, this is a fun enteraining story but it is far from one sided....
I change each of you to not relate to our awkward heros and feel for the love, heart ache and general growth of the characters.
I was planning on using this to kill some time and take up my sizable commute. Nope this has taken my life over, I am unable to turn it off! Binge listening all day and night!

a great super hero story
good world development.
interesting and complex characters.
the only problem is pretty standard, if you have problems, why don't you just use them. being in an academic setting helps deal with that.
can't wait to read book 2

Jaw dropping story and performance
I’m certain this book reads well, but it shines as an audiobook. The narrator breathes life into the author’s rich story. I found myself overcome with emotion at times due to the realness of the characters and the narrator’s defy performance.

solid story, great side characters, OK narrator
The story takes a few to really get going, but its worth it. There is an impressive amount of depth to the secondary characters. The narrator did an OK job, but he really needs to work on his female voices
