Publisher's summary

When Princess Cassia Rose fled her home world of Eturia to escape an arranged marriage, she had no idea her sudden departure would spark a war. Now after two years hiding as a ship hand, she is finally returning to her beloved, home but not in the way she imagined. Shackled by bounty hunters, she is violently dragged back to account for her crimes. Her only solace is that the Banshee crew managed to evade capture, including Kane Arric, her best friend...with occasional benefits.

Meanwhile, Kane and the rest of the crew of the Banshee plan a desperate rescue mission. But when they arrive on Eturia, Cassia isn't exactly in need of heroics - she's claimed her birthright as Eturia's queen, but has inherited a war-torn planet simmering with rebellion. Cassia must make alliances, and Kane, the bastard son of a merchant, isn't a choice that will earn her any friends. When the outer realm is threatened by the dangerous Zhang mafia, Cassia, Kane, and the rest of the Banshee crew uncover a horrifying conspiracy that endangers the entire universe.

In the face of unspeakable evil, Cassia must confront her own family's complicated legacy on Eturia and decide once and for all who her real family is.

A bit too predictable

The characters and how the interact with each other saves the story. The storyline predictable and s mixer of a number of standards tropes. hence the predictability.

Great book

Starfall is not a repeat of the first book, rather its own story that builds on the first. Melissa Landers and her writing holds up for an engaging sequel. Cassia and Kane's story is utterly captivating, and keeps you on your toes.

Other Side of the Coin

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

It was interesting look at the untold story from the first book in the series. However, the first book was much more robust and filled out, this book felt like a second thought.

Would you recommend Starfall to your friends? Why or why not?

No, but I would recommend Starflight.

I was so disappointed

I loved the first book and, despite the reviews on this one, I decided to give it a try. I figured there had been plenty of times where I disagreed with others on a story. However, this was definitely one of the instances where others were correct. This story did not live up to the first in the series. The characters and plot development felt rushed and incomplete. I found that I no longer liked any of the characters that had been so entertaining and I wasn't all that interested in how everything would play out. It simply wasn't compelling. I didn't think the romantic development was very interesting either, although I can recognize the realities of emotions being fluid when there are other insecurities and life-altering decisions at play. I simply found that the heroine came off as overly insecure and whined too much. Overall, I was so sad that this book wasn't better.
