Publisher's summary

Somewhere in the galaxy, millions suddenly perish in a blinding instant of pain, anguish, and despair - a disruption of the Force so shocking, it is felt by Luke at his Jedi academy on Yavin 4 and by Leia at home on Coruscant. It is a deed that rivals the terrifying power of the Death Star, the long-destroyed weapon of the defeated Empire.

Then death comes to Coruscant itself. As Leia, head of the New Republic, prepares to address the Senate, a massive explosion decimates the Senate's ranks. Leia survives and recovers, only to be faced with calls to resign from office. Even worse, some of the Senators lay the blame for the attack on Han Solo.

As Leia works desperately to clear Han's name, Han and Chewbacca journey to the lawless asteroids of Smuggler's Run to track down rumors of a secret plot against the New Republic. And Luke goes in search of Brakiss, a former Jedi student who has turned his considerable talents to the dark side and might well have been involved in the unexplainable deaths that so disturbed Luke and Leia.

But Brakiss is only a small part of the carnage taking place on Coruscant and elsewhere. Luke is being stalked by a master of the dark side who is determined to rule as the next emperor. Luke, Leia, and Leia's Jedi children are targeted for death. Then billions will follow, in a holocaust unequaled in galactic history.

yet another Star wars story ruined

yet again another story that could have otherwise been very good, was ruined by the same horrible narrator that has ruined countless other books. Anthony Heald should not be allowed to narrate. he missed pronunciate words, names, places, as if he's never even heard of or watched a Star wars movie. and again they abridged the story which left you confused at best lost most of the time and missing most likely a bunch of pertinent information. hopefully someone other than other readers read these reviews. hopefully somebody from audible reads these reviews and will realize that no one wants to read or hear interbridge book I feel ripped off and wish I could get my money back. I'm going to start paying better attention to my selections and try to no longer by an abridged book.

It’s a Saturday morning cartoon

This abridged version is basically any superhero cartoon where an expected evil villain arises, devastates, tries to take control of the world, and is defeated all in a 30-minute episode.

Not to mention:
-A member of the Solo/Skywalker clan kidnapped.
-Members of the Solo/Skywalker group being blamed by the senate for BS all while trying to do their best to save them and the galaxy.
-The senate trying to oust Leia.
-An antagonist who wants to kill Luke and Leia for a ridiculous reason.
-Another “superweapon”

Stop me if you’ve heard any of that before. And if you’re new to SW then don’t be mad and think those are spoilers. Cuz I’ve got bad news for you. Those spoil every other book. Rinse and repeat. The same tired stuff. So much creativity and intrigue in the SW Universe, but we keep getting the same five storylines force fed to us.

And AH is still the worst narrator selection for these books. I Cora-skant take it anymore.

So abridged it's meaningless

I'm not sure why some of the Star Wars audible books are cut down as drastically as they are, but they're barely cliff notes. If you've read the books, you'll be horribly disappointed. If you haven't, you might feel like there's a story being told but it will seem disjointed and disappointing.

Not bad.

Not bad. Would like an unabridged version. Felt like I only got half the story

It was pretty awful

Did not enjoy the narration, nor did I enjoy the story. It was also really short.
