Publisher's summary

As civil war between the Republic and the Separatists rages across the galaxy, nowhere is the fighting more fierce than on the swamp world of Drongar, where a beleaguered mobile hospital unit wages a never-ending war of its own....

A surgeon who covers his despair with wisecracks; another who faces death and misery head-on, venting his emotions through beautiful music.... A nurse with her heart in her work and her eye on a doctor.... A Jedi padawan on a healing mission without her master.... These are the core members of a tiny med unit serving the jungle world of Drongar, where battle is waged over the control of a priceless native plant and an endless line of medlifters brings in the wounded and dying - mostly clone troopers, but also soldiers of all species.

While the healers work desperately to save lives, others plot secretly to profit from the war - either by dealing on the black market or by manipulating the events of the war itself. In the end, though, all will face individual tests, and only those of compassionate hearts and staunch spirits can hope to survive to fight another day.

Too much lost in Abridging

Please stop abridging good books! What could have been a good story is lost, and instead you end up fumbling around trying to figure out what's going on. A shame.

i hate abridged stories

If this had been a full length unabridged version it would have been 5***** all day long but abridged versions only rate 3*** at best

Abridged

It is almost like they abridged the entire book. Several pivotal moments were not in this audiobook. I am confused why this book needed to be abridged in the first place.

Grey's Anatomy in Space

All the action of any other Star Wars novel with a view into the operating room after each battle. New interesting characters that keep you intrigued as they develop throughout the story.

Star Wars clone wars medstar 1 battle surgeons

A good read. The abridging really takes away from the overall sense of the story. Would have given five stars if not for that. Narrator does a very good job of bringing each character to life.

War from a socialist point of view

This story line is a continual rant on the fallacy of good vs evil. The author could not step away from their political views long enough to write a si-fi book about the most well known story line on the planet. The good Jedi vs the evil Sith seams to be too deep a concept for the author to get their head around. At min 46 the author, in one of the many rants, states how the news is pushing a story line about the fight against the evil Count Dooku but then states as a fact "in reality it was about commerce and capitalism as most wars, even holly wars were." I have every book in all the star wars series from the New Jedi Order, Legacy of the Force, and Fate of the Jedi. I will never buy another book written by Michael Reaves or Steve Perry. On the other hand if you hate it when people stand up against evil and do something about it this book is for you.
