Publisher's Summary

Following a trail of clues across the galaxy, Luke Skywalker continues his quest to find the reasons behind Jacen Solo's dark downfall and to win redemption for the Jedi Order. Sojourning among the mysterious Aing-Tii monks has left Luke and his son Ben with no real answers, only the suspicion that the revelations they seek lie in the forbidden reaches of the distant Maw Cluster. There, hidden from the galaxy in a labyrinth of black holes, dwell the Mind Walkers: those whose power to transcend their bodies and be one with the Force is as seductive and intoxicating as it is potentially fatal. But it may be Luke's only path to the truth. Meanwhile, on Coruscant, the war of wills between Galactic Alliance Chief of State Natasi Daala and the Jedi Order is escalating. Outraged over the carbonite freezing of young Jedi Knights Valin and Jysella Horn after their inexplicable mental breakdowns, the Jedi are determined to defy Daala's martial tactics, override Council Master Kenth Hamner's wavering leadership, and deal on their own terms with the epidemic of madness preying on their ranks. As Han and Leia Solo, along with their daughter Jaina, join the fight to protect more stricken Knights from arrest, Jedi healers race to find a cure for the rapidly spreading affliction. But none of them realize the blaster barrel is already swinging in their direction and Chief Daala is about to pull the trigger. Nor do Luke and Ben, deep in the Maw Cluster and pushing their Force abilities beyond known limits, realize how close they are to the Sith strike squad bent on exterminating the Skywalkers, to a nexus of dark-side energy unprecedented in its power and its hunger, and to an explosive confrontation between opposing wielders of the Force from which only one Master, good or evil, can emerge alive.

Abyss: Book - 3

Where does Star Wars rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Abyss was a good listen. Really got the imagination going. Had to rewind a few times to give a second listen to parts. The story gets better with Leia. I have been waiting to see Leia flex her strength. You get a glimpse of it here.

I am listening to the Star Wars books in this order:

The Thrawn Trilogy by Timothy Zahn
Heir to the Empire
Dark Force Rising
The Last Command

The Hand of Thrawn Duology by Timothy Zahn
Specter of the Past
Vision of the Future

The Legacy of the Force series
Legacy of the Force: Betrayal by Aaron Allston
Legacy of the Force: Bloodlines by Karen Traviss
Legacy of the Force: Tempest by Troy Denning
Legacy of the Force: Exile by Aaron Allston
Legacy of the Force: Sacrifice by Karen Traviss
Legacy of the Force: Inferno by Troy Denning
Legacy of the Force: Fury by Aaron Allston
Legacy of the Force: Revelation by Karen Traviss
Legacy of the Force: Invincible by Troy Denning

The Fate of the Jedi series
Fate of the Jedi: Outcast by Aaron Allston
Fate of the Jedi: Omen by Christie Golden
Fate of the Jedi: Abyss by Troy Denning
Fate of the Jedi: Backlash by Aaron Allston
Fate of the Jedi: Allies by Christie Golden
Fate of the Jedi: Vortex by Troy Denning
Fate of the Jedi: Conviction by Aaron Allston
Fate of the Jedi: Ascension by Christie Golden
Fate of the Jedi: Apocalypse by Troy Denning

Who was your favorite character and why?

Ben Skywalker: Very strategic thinking for a teen. His character always keep me smiling.

What about Marc Thompson’s performance did you like?

Legendary

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Don't want to give anything away. The story takes a turn to the odd, but I have a feeling more will be reveled in future books.

Good Story Good Author

i feel like there getting back on track with SW books. the last series was not in depth enough and felt like a cheap pocket book. but i thought this author who writes allot of SW books pulled it back in line in this novel. this series has a little direction now. and im glad they are offering SW books unabridged now.

Loved it!

I loved every minute of this book. I enjoyed the first book in the series (Outcast) but was deeply disappointed in the second (Omen) however Abyss is by far the best yet in the Fate of the Jedi series. Luke and Ben were written to perfection and their story was my favourite part of the book. We also get to see more depth to Han, Leia, Allana, Jag and Jaina. The story with the Sith had some great character development and it was great to see so much from their perspective and at last we see the backstabbing and treachery that we expect from Sith. Also we get a sinister introduction to a very old and dark enemy that seems to be the key to the entire series. As usual the audio quality and read are superb. I whole heartily recommend this book and hope that the rest of the series can maintain this level of excitement and character development.

Fate of the Jedi: Abyss

I have so far really enjoyed the whole Fate of the Jedi series.
I thought Outcast was better than Omen, but if you enjoyed either of the previous you will certainly like Abyss - especially the Luke & Ben Skywalker story thread.
It's really gripping and great fun!
