Highly enjoyable

Really enjoyable book and series. The twists and turns, though in places predictable, are fast paced and give the reader new philosophical and scientific avenues to explore and question within themselves. The love story lines are certainly not May's strongest areas of writing and characters are often squarely fixed into their stereotypes, but he provides a great piece of escapism for all to enjoy.

Strong on plot, weak on characteisation

What did you like most about Snakehead?

The plot and the narration

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me annoyed. Li and Margaret's on/off relationship is really beginning to get on my nerves. There is no feeling of real affection between them, they may need each other but it would be good if they also showed signs of liking each other too.And I don't know why I haven't noticed berore but Margaret really is not a very nice person. You would have thought that someone in her position would have learnt by now to use a bit of tact and diplomacy. Not the most sympathetic of heroines and becoming increasingly hard to like.

Any additional comments?

I have just bought the next in the series as the stories are good and it will be interesting to see how things pan out given the revelation at the end of this one.
