Publisher's Summary

Homicide detective Kara Gillian has a special talent: she can sense the "arcane" in our world, and there's quite a bit of it, even in Beaulac, Louisiana. She's also a summoner of demons, and works on a task force that deals with supernatural crimes. Her partners are attractive and smart FBI agents, but they're not summoners, and they're not telling Kara why they are on this special force with her.
To make things worse, Kara has pledged herself to one of the most powerful of demons - a Demon Lord - who helped save her partner's life, but now expects things in return. Meanwhile, she's trying to solve a string of murders that are somehow tied together by money, sex, rock music and...mud. But how can she concentrate on the case when she's not even sure who-or what-her partners are?

Good concept

I like to read mystery books and a fantasy books. This was a good hybrid of the two. My chief complaint is that the first two books were not available on audible. My second complaint is that this book seemed to be a 'chickflick' type of story, which as a man I found to not be as approachable as possible. I did enjoy the hard-criminology aspects of the novel, which were somewhat unique in my experience. I'll try more in this series, but I'm not too hopeful.

It's a good series.

I do like this series. I only have 2 small problems with it. The writer keeps bringing up everything in the past books. What's the point of listening to those books if she's going to replay them over and over in ever book. My other slight issue is the reader makes nearlly all the men sound like backward hicks. Or they aren't all there in the head.
Put aside that for a second. I do like the series. I'm going to listen to the next one in the series. Hopefully they don't repeat everything. Because for me, that's to painful to keep listening to 7 or 8 books in the series.

great story

Loved the story and the telling of it well done but some important parts are repeated so good for those who allow a bit of time between listening times.
