Publisher's summary

A special forces troop and an ordinary woman are transported to another planet through a wormhole forcing them to work together to survive.

Imagine being forced onto a plane by a bunch of mercenaries and then crash landing on another planet. That is what happened to Sara Newman and it was all thanks to her father and an alien named Andrin.

After they crashed it became obvious that they were on another planet when they saw two suns in the sky. It made it incredibly hot during the day. First and foremost, they needed to survive. They had to find shelter and they had to do it fast. The planet seemed to be dry and mostly barren until they found a large forest. It took them a day’s hike to get there and it took its toll on Sara. The men were used to harsh conditions. They were no strangers to the wilderness or survival and they all seemed to take it all in stride. She wasn’t a soldier but she was smart and she wasn’t about to be told what to do by anyone, much less Colonel Strickland. He was a hard-ass, no-nonsense leader of a pack of men that he referred to as ‘The Boy Scouts’ and he wasn’t about to take any crap from her. Strickland practically raised all of the scouts and they were completely loyal to him. They would do whatever he told them to do, without question.

Once they were in the forest survival was their main goal. In order to do that they had to find food and water, which was easier said than done. The water was the easy part. There was a river nearby. But food was going to be hard to come by. One couldn’t just pick a berry and eat it. There was a process.

It didn’t take Sara very long to realize that she was woefully outnumbered. She had horrible visions of being passed around and popping out babies that would eventually be subjected to her same fate. But even so, she wouldn’t let anyone get away with treating her like a stupid woman, which did her more harm than good.

Strap yourself in for an awesome trip.

This story has an interesting plot full of developed characters and locations. I really enjoy the point of view. It is not your typical story line. At the end you are still left thinking about the plot for days. Narrator does an excellent time job of expressing emotion and empathy.

Kept me going through this science fiction story

Wow! Quite a science fiction book! C. J. Boyle did an excellent job in this intriguing story of space travel and so much more. One woman was kidnapped by a military group of men and they ended up all stranded in space. She has a lot to worry about and the men are trying to figure it out too with a commanding officer who is very demanding. Lots of good dialogue and details and it kept me guessing until the end. She read the book as well and I sped up everything to a speed that worked for me. There was a background hum that came into play at one point which was not helpful. But still, I enjoyed the story a lot. Boyle is an excellent writer!

A great into for the second book in the series.

While I thoroughly loved the second book in the series the first book in the series was okay. The author works on the concept of unknown wormholes and does a good job building a story around that which she beautifully weaves into a second book. The first book struggles with character development to an extent. There is some stereotyping of mercenaries that too quickly devolve into nothing more than thugs without morals. what makes that kind of odd is they were hired by the main characters father to protect her. It is a good book but especially in light of how it lays the foundation for a very good second book. Performance was good.

Interesting story

I enjoyed this story despite the drab narration. The story was engaging with plenty of detail. Now on to book two. I received this free review audiobook and I am voluntarily leaving this unbiased review.

Not What I Expected.

The first 1/3 of the book or more has very little to do with scifi and much more to do with romance. It is about 1 girl constantly trying to not get raped buy a bunch of men. I will admit I was not looking for a romance novel. The final 1/3 of the book was a very good story. Also hearing the Author/Narrator get better by the end of the book was a good thing.

If you like romance this may be for you. Was like a classic western bodice ripper on a strange planet.

Entertaining.

The story and narration carried me through a long flight and I finished it snow blowing the property.
I laughed out loud and found parts of the story inventive.
The narration was endearing and C. J. Boyle has a pleasant voice.
I may have to sell some blood to afford an Audible subscription, but with this experience it may be worth it.
