Publisher's Summary

They know the end is coming, and they know who is behind it. They think they have a plan. A way to stop the men and women who are trying to destroy every single human being on the planet. Only those who are Special will be spared, and only they will be left to fight for the fate of their kind. Except... we already know that even the best-laid plans usually unravel in spectacular ways. In Phoenix, the Roads Less Traveled universe is expanded in unexpected ways, the events of which take place parallel to the events of Books One, Two, and Three. We will follow a new cast of characters, led by Brad Lincoln... though you may receive a visit from some old, familiar faces. Those of you who have followed the series will recognize our protagonist, Brad, from the ending of Shades of Gray. It is his story we will see, and how his team fought to the very end to save us all. And you will also find that Kasey, Brad, and everyone they hold dear may be in for a world of hurt down the road...

What the Critics Say

"Phoenix is the kind of psychological thriller you don't expect in a tale of the zombie apocalypse; Dulaney's got parallel paths to hell, and they're all great rides." (Thom Brannan, author of Sad Wings of Destiny and Lords of Night)
“Crisp, elegant prose makes this zombie novel stand well above its peers…” (R. Thomas Riley, author of If God Doesn’t Show and The Monster Within Idea)
"In the latest Roads Less Traveled book, C. Dulaney mixes in a little bit of The Dead Zone and a dusting of Fringe to give a bold new flavor to the zombie apocalypse." (Peter Clines, author of the EX-HEROES series and 14)

Interesting story with bad narration

Would you try another book from C. Dulaney and/or Kevin T. Collins?

C. Dulaney yes, great story teller. Kevin T. Collins not so much (I will explain in the performance section)

Would you recommend Roads Less Traveled: Phoenix to your friends? Why or why not?

Yes but in print only

How could the performance have been better?

Kevin T. Collins performance reminded me of the last section of Edgar Allan Poe's "The Tale-Tell Heart". Breathless anticipation building to the finale where the narrator jumps up and reveals that he murdered someone and buried them under the floor. The only problem is that his whole performance is like this.....

Any additional comments?

The story is an interesting departure from the standard zombie genera. I liked the way it ties in to the first 3 books. I enjoy C. Delaney's writing and am enjoying the series, but I will be reading the book as long as Kevin T. Collins is narrating them.

Terrible narration, returning

I don't know what he is doing with his voice but I think it's some kind of acting. He thinks he is on a drama stage. I think a specific characters voice must have stuck so he sounds like some snobby fake British somewhat gay person. And since he is straining to act each word to its fullest, he becomes out of breath and gulps in air. Worse when the story actually calls for some excitement.

I so miss Elizabeth Rodgers.

I wanted to return the book after two minutes but since I'm a fan of this series, punished myself and tried to like it. But I just can't stand his narration.
I couldn't get through the story but something about people with psychic powers. I skipped through chapters and there are zombies but few and far between. This book is not at all like the original books in the series. Awfully disappointed. Or perhaps the narrator would say, AABSolutely AATrocioussss and not my cup of tea.
