This is a great series

Mark Talon, ex Delta Force soldier, returns for another adventure. Now he has an outlet for revenge on the forces that destroyed his future wife. He makes it his life mission to extinguish all similar evil forces so he can let loose all of his aggression for one goal, vengeance.

This is a great series and if you haven’t listened to Damnation Code, the first book. You really do not need to, this one could stand alone if you wanted it to. However, I always recommend starting at the beginning with any series.

The summary gives a pretty good rundown of the plot for this one and because the audiobook is comparatively very short, I will not add anything as I do not want to give anything away.

I will say this. Fans of military paranormal thrillers will love this book. Very fast paced with tons of action. Only a few slow spots, spent character building, and they are brief. Massa does a great job of not over explaining anything or over introducing anyone. The characters are not excessively constructed, sure some may seem two dimensional and shallow, but that is half of the fun! He seems to know that this story is supposed to be fun and overdoing either of those would only drag the story down.

I will keep with this series because I really enjoy the lightheartedness that Massa keeps with. No nonsense, in your face, one man against black magic. You want a fun quick listen get this series.

Once again James Foster delivers a solid performance, which, after listening to many of his works, I expect nothing less from him. Even though I have created such high standards for him, he doesn’t disappoint.

An amazing second book.

Any additional comments?

I loved book 1 of this but I have to say that this one was even better! It blew me away. The summary is spot on so let's get to my thoughts.

Talon is back and more composed and able to do his job better. In book 1 he was learning the ropes but here he knows what to do so we see more action from him plus he has a benefactor so there is more weaponry and knowledge.

This brought more emotions to the surface while reading, for me anyway. I felt so sorry for Nicole when she was young, but even more so now because she knows what to expect. I find possession stories to be so extremely scary and this is no different. The idea of a thing being inside you is just so shudder inducing that I was holding my breath at those scenes. Then the author adds in twist after twist and I was left reeling.

Once again, this is high octane action and adventure. Once I started I couldn't stop and listened to it in a day again. It has everything a great book needs and more. This book is pure entertainment and I could see it as a mini series cause it's that good.

In all, a stellar second book. I loved everything about it and will definitely be keeping my eye on this author. Bring on more Talon and co!!!!!

Once again, James Foster gave a flawless performance. He really knows how to bring the listener into the story and keep their attention throughout. Definitely a narrator that delivers all the time.

Thrill ride of a book

STORY REVIEW......

Mark Talon is once again battling evil occult followers. This time he's out to save a young formally possessed woman, Nicole Robertson who is being targeted. This is another great book by the talented Mr. Massa. The character of Talon is a mixture of Jason Bourne and Batman with just a dash of Hellboy thrown in. He's smart, sarcastic, crafty, quick on his feet, dark, haunted and knows how to kick some serious butt. The story is fast paced and really grabs you in.

AUDIO REVIEW......

I found the narrator to be much better this time around. The characters are far better voiced and easier to recognize who is who. Like book one this book was a delight to listen to. Loved the story.

I will most definitely will be continuing with reading the series and highly recommend this book for reading.

YAY for the second time!

What a great sequel. Occult Assassin #2: Apocalypse Soldier is a fun second book in a series i am loving more and more! The author knows how to thrill and create suspense. This novel even raises the bar on the last novel, and that is hard since i gave the last 5 out of 5 too! So if you liked 1 you will love this! I can't recommend this book more! It’s full of twists and tuns and you ride an emotional roller coaster as you hear it. It's pure entertainment!! I am looking forward to more Occult Assassin books.

James Foster does it again! He shows great voice control while the tension of the storyline builds again! It so fun when a man you loved in book 1 returns to read it again! The fantastic voice from Heart to Heart: Ashton Ford, Psychic Detective and Occult Assassin #1: Damnation Code does it again! James Foster is now my official my favorite on Audible! Nothing more, nothing less! 4 hrs and 45 mins with pure good book!

As with the first book, the narration was top notch. There is nothing like listening to a story told by grand performer.

I enjoyed listening to the story and how well it flowed from the first book tot he second. There was a surprise return character that had evolved in some surprising ways. I am confidant that if you enjoyed the first, you will enjoy the second.

Amazing

Any additional comments?

This is an excellent series. I love books with a different spin on my favorite genres and this certainly fits the bill. Mark Talon, ex Delta Force soldier, returns with more action and even creepier demons. The story is fast paced and really draws you in. I like that you get more of a glimpse into the main character Mark Talon the man and what motivates him to do what he does. He's almost superhuman in a way. Great job by the author and by all means keep them coming. I'm in the for ride. The narrator also does an excellent job. I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

Another fast paced Urban fantasy.

It is a great quick listen, with an engaging main character, a Spec Ops soldier now fighting the forces of the occult after his fiancé is killed by cultists. He uses these specialized skills to stop cultists from raising supernatural destruction and chaos. The plot is fast paced, jetting across the world, with lots of believable action. James Fosters narration is well done, bringing the story to life. Any fan of Heath Stallcup's Monster Squad books should enjoy this series. Great series, although I enjoyed book 1 a bit more

Would you listen to Occult Assassin #2: Apocalypse Soldier again? Why?

Probably not, I don't tend to listen to audiobooks multiple times... Perhaps in several years...

What other book might you compare Occult Assassin #2: Apocalypse Soldier to and why?

I don't find it fair to compare titles, it doesn't tend to do them justice

What does James Foster bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He's an excellent narrator and brings the story to life. Reading the book just wouldn't be the same, he brings the excitement, along with the authors story.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Not really, most books don't bring on many strong emotions for me.

A warrior exorcist

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would to some one who liked this genre.

What other book might you compare Occult Assassin #2: Apocalypse Soldier to and why?

The Mitch Rapp series by Vince Flynn. Talon is a lot like Mitch Rapp. His love got killed by the bad guys and he kicks terrorist's asses. The main difference is that Mitch Rapp fights political terrorists and Talon fights occult terrorists.

What does James Foster bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The drama of hearing a story a story and more personality to the characters.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Warrior Exocist

Any additional comments?

Lots of action and edge of your seat suspense. Good vs Evil, Light vs Dark themed supernatural thriller. Not at all boring!!

Rather than Talon being a Lone Wolf warrior, I think the author should consider building a team. There have been some good candidates in both this book and the first book that would make for good team members. Talon is use to working in a team and as he comes to terms with his personal grief I think a team should be developed. Just my personal thoughts.
