Publisher's summary

The life of a star-studded royal has not been kind to 18-year-old Elena Watkins. With a Council breathing down her neck and a dragon that refuses to accept her as her rider, she must convince everyone that she is ready to rule Paegeia like her parents before her. But she has made a promise to her father King Albert, that she will not go looking for him and free the people of Etan. Elena has promised to never truly fulfill her destiny.

However, situations out of her control will soon force her to confront herself and the evil that seeks to destroy her. Elena must look inside herself to discover if she can defeat the approaching darkness, be accepted by the people of Paegeia, bring her dragon back to light, and fulfill the destiny written in their stars.

Ruined the series for me

Having the princes gang raped by no less than seven guys was way over the top and ruined the whole tone of what was a nice YA themed story...It didn’t even fit with the rest of the story I could’ve seen her thrown in the dungeon or abused or whatever but it was just way over-the-top the gang rape

not making any sence

throughout the entire book they keep saying that they can't say what the dent is because if their enemies know they would kill their dent to destroy them the thing is if they are going around saying I can't tell you because of this then wouldn't their enemies know that the way to destroy them is to kill their dent and don't need to know what the dent really is it is just stupid not to tell. Also the addition of the gang rape in a YA book is so uncalled for it just totally ruined not just this book but the entire story.

Frustrating :(

This series keeps yanking your chain the progression is way to slow and there is a lot of filler that does not need to be there. I do like the direction it is going but this book really tries my patience.

Inconsistencies drive me crazy

The story line is great, but it irritated me when all of a sudden they were calling them Sunburst dragons instead of Sunblasts like they were called in the last 3 books. Also, in Frostbite during the scene with the ancients Sir Robert says "I was his rider..." And Elaina says "He's my father's rider..." Not dragon. How did Adrienne Woods and her editor miss these inconsistencies?

Repeat

Could have done without about an hour of reminiscing, but it is still very good.

Do not let the other reviews sway you.

Yes, there is a emotionally rough part of the book. That part was not written in a disgusting fashion, but emotionally charged. I cried at the part and several other parts.

Changed My Mind

I hated this book after the main character went through something really terrible. I didn’t think it was necessary and I still don’t. With that being said, I was won over my the end of the book. The author recaptured my attention with the story. Just bear with the terrible scene and wait for the story to rebuild.

I still stand by the narrator being fantastic.
